Can the D235 run on just battery or do I need too setup the hard wire, I am not sure which mp to get 2mp 3mp or 5mp.

Tapo D235 can be powered either by battery or through hardwiring. If hardwiring is not an option, the doorbell can still be installed and used normally, don't worry.  How to install Tapo Doorbell Tapo D235
