Phones often connect without internet in the morning (TP-Link Deco in Access Point mode)
Hi everyone,
I'm having an annoying issue with my TP-Link Deco M4R system running in Access Point mode. The main Wi-Fi on my ISP's modem is disabled, and Deco handles all wireless connectivity.
Every night before bed, I turn off Wi-Fi on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S23). In the morning, when I turn it back on, my phone often connects to the Deco network but shows “Connected without internet”.
When I check the Deco app, it shows that my phone is connected, and there’s even some upload and download activity, but I still have no internet access until I forget the network and reconnect manually. Only then does internet access return.
This is incredibly frustrating.
I’ve already updated the Deco firmware to the latest version (currently on 1.7.0 Build 20250228).
This issue happens only with phones (not laptops or other devices).
It used to work perfectly before.
Occasionally, my main internet connection drops for 2–5 minutes, which seems to disrupt the Deco mesh network — could this be related?
Any ideas what could be causing this or what I can try to fix it? Could the brief WAN dropouts be messing with Deco's DHCP or ARP tables somehow?
Thanks in advance for any help!
