Model: Deco X1500   TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20240911 Rel. 53484

I have moved from my fiber internet provider HG8245H5 hardware to a TP-LINK setup with a Ethernet/4G router TL-MR6400 (connected to the fiber modem) and 3 DECO X1500 wired to the MR6400.

- The DECO X1500 are providing wifi for users (phones, laptops, ...)

- The MR6400 is providing wifi for utilities (camera, IoT, TV, ...)

On regular basis, iOS devices get disconnected from the internet.

They still have local IP address from the router and they are authenticated on the wifi. They can ping the local network and even connect to the cameras and router admin apps BUT they show "not connected to the internet". They cannot ping external DNS or resolv names.

I tried to :

- change iOS setting if private Wifi Mac address (none, fix)

- change "fast roaming"

- change "beamforming"

- disable "inteligent DHCP"

- disable "OFDMA/MU-MIMO"

- disable 2.4G to keep 5G band only

I also tried to "forget" and join again (this fixes the issue temporarly)

BUT after few min / hours again the issue comes back !

If I connect to the utility wifi directly on the MR640, all is ok whatever the setting. When I go back to the DECO X1500 after a wile, no more internet !!!!

Do you have any idea of a solution ?

Thanks for help !

  @sygo

Hi, welcome to the community.

Did you set the TL-MR6400 into "WiFi router mode" instead of the 4G router mode?

Please also set Deco X1500 into "Access Point mode": How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

And the latest firmware for Deco X1500_v1 is 1.2.1 now. Please also manually update to the latest 1.2.1 version first:

Deco X10_V1_1.2.1 Added VPN Kill Switch and Improved Overall Network Performance

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

@David-TP Thanks for advices

The MR6400 is indeed set to Wifi Router and 4g is only used as backup link (this works well)

the DECO X1500 are in AP mode also

I will try to update but the auto update it not proposing any new version :-/

Regards

  @David-TP So I updated the 3 DECO to version 1.2.1.

The issue is still there but I try to understand if this comes from the MR6400 or the DECO.

If I switch my iPhone wifi privacy from "Fixe private" to "No private" then I still have an IP local address but no internet access (local access is ok)

So how could this be blocked at MR6400 level that is routing to my fiber modem. I really have no clue and If I connect to the MR6400 wifi, all is fine !

Thanks for you advices

  @sygo recent exemple again :

- my son is coming home and connects his iPhone 13 to the DECO wifi in "private wifi fixed" mode

- works well during 2 days

- yesterday evening : no more internet on his iPhone

- switch to "private wifi : none " on the iPhone and internet is back again

This is so strange
