Model: Deco XE200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.6

Hello all,

I've a system with 2 Deco XE200, and 3 Deco P7.

When they are all connected using ethernet backhaul, I've no issues. Recently I needed to move one of the XE200 to the garage, and it's using wireless backhaul. The signal is strong and the speeds are great. The issue is, randomly and several times a day, my devices connected to any of the decos loose the ability to load websites (might be an issue with DNS). If I remove the router in wireless backhaul mode, everything is back to normal.

I've changed DNS and the issue is still there. I've tried changing the router in the garage (in wireless backhaul mode) to check if it was an issue with the specific device, but the same happens.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

Can I also have the firmware version of the Deco P7?

"The issue is, randomly and several times a day, my devices connected to any of the decos loose the ability to load websites"

-Do you mainly have issues with certain specific websites? or any accessed websites?

-Will you run into this issue on different mobile devices?

- When the websites are not loading, if you turn off/on the WLAN settings on the mobile devices and access the website again, will it help load the website?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP Hi,

Deco P7 firmware is v1.4.11.

I've forgotten but ai also have a Deco M5 (v1.7.8).

Usually all websites fail to load and I get notifications from IOT devices that they are disconnected. A couple of times I was able to keep a Teams meeting on while websites failed to load (would point to a DNS issue).

This issue happens across all devices.

Turning on and off the WiFi generally fixes the issue.

Thabks!

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply.

I'd like to follow up on your case by email, and please check whether you can receive my email later.

At the same time, could you please help me check the following details:

  • Do you use any network switches for the Ethernet Backhaul? Or can you share a diagram of your network topology?
  • If we set Deco M5 as the WiFi backhaul Deco in the garage, would there be any difference?
  • Apart from Teams, how about other Apps or non-web-based programs? Would they work well?
  • Could you please help me save some screenshots from Chrome Development Tools: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/794930 (the last part)

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi! Yes, I have a TL-SG108S switch (with loop prevention disabled).Here is a diagram.

Apps that do not require internet access work accordingly.

I set up the M5 as the router in the garage with Wi-Fi backhaul three days ago, and since then I could not replicate the issue.

Is there any justification for M5 to work?

Thanks!
