Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Topology:

  • Archer C6 v4 as the controller (FW: 1.14.0 Build 240617 Rel.39521n(4555)).
  • Archer AX23 (FW: 1.0.4 Build 20240306 rel.66339) and Archer AX53 v2 (FW: 1.1.0 Build 20230725 Rel. 56344) as nodes.
  • All connected via a TP-Link switch using Ethernet backhaul.

Summary:

  • When I disable Wi-Fi on the router (Archer C6 v4) and enable it again, the Archer AX23 node resumes broadcasting as expected, but the Archer AX53 remains off.
  • There is no SSID or signal, and the Wi-Fi LEDs stay off (see photo).
  • Only resetting the AX53 restores Wi-Fi.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Set up EasyMesh with the Archer C6 v4 as the controller and the AX53 and AX23 as the nodes.
  2. Turn off Wi-Fi on the C6 v4.
  3. Turn Wi-Fi back on.
  4. The AX23 resumes Wi-Fi, but the AX53 does not. The LEDs stay off (see attached photo below) and there is no signal.
  5. Resetting the AX53 restores the Wi-Fi connection. The issue repeats every time.

Expected:

  • The AX53 should restore Wi-Fi in the same way as the AX23.

Actual:

  • The AX53 Wi-Fi remains off until it is reset.

These LEDs remain off until the reset:

I disabled, then enabled the WiFi here:

Hi @Joseph-TP

Yes, after resetting the AX23, everything is fine again.

My theory is that when the C6 and AX23 start up at the same time (e.g., after a power outage), the AX23 somehow receives a bad/incorrect configuration and is therefore slow. So when I reset the AX23 (while the C6 is already running), it can pick up the correct configuration from the C6 and therefore works at full speed again.

Hello@Feriman ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

Archer C64—switch—Archer AX53+Archer AX23 )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Can you temporarily remove the AX23 and test the Archer AX53's WiFi broadcasting function alone,  to see if it's still abnormal and whether a hard reset is still required?

In addition, what is the model of your switch?

Best Regards.

  @Joseph-TP

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, you're correct, this is my network topology in nutshell.

My switch is TP-Link TL-SG1008P

I swapped the FW versions with the AX23, the AX53 actually has the latest one (which you linked to).

You mean I should reproduce the error again, and when it occurs (when the AX53 does not broadcast WiFi), I should remove the C6 router, which is the EasyMesh coordinator, from the network (turn it off)?

Thanks!

Feriman

Hello @Feriman ,

Sorry for the late reply.

AX53_V2, AX23_V1, and C6_V4 have all recently released new firmware. Have you tried updating to the latest firmware version?

Is the current network performance consistent with previous levels?

  @Joseph-TP

After updating the AX23, everything went fine. After updating the C6 v4 from 1.14 to 1.15, the internet speed on AX23 dropped to 1-2Mbit/s (it was 600-700Mbit/s before the update). Same issue even after resetting AX23.

What changed in 1.15?

Edit: I had to reset all routers again to get back the original speed.

Hello@Feriman ,

Thanks for your reply.

Do you mean that the Archer AX23 is working fine after the update, but the Archer C6_V4 is causing the Archer AX23 to experience slowdowns after the update?

After resetting, is everything working again? If it doesn't work, please temporarily remove the Archer C6_V4 for comparison.

How about the Archer AX53? Have you updated the firmware on it? Can it access the internet normally?

  @Feriman ,

It seems that, as you suspected, the connection instability is caused by routers receiving different information at different times.

Glad you finally found a solution,this will definitely be helpful to others!yes

  @Joseph-TP

Yes, I was able to reproduce the issue today again.

Will you fix this issue in router's firmware? If yes, is there an ETA? I can test it in my environment.

Thanks!

  @Feriman ,

May I confirm what is the firmware version of your Archer AX53 now?

I will send you a beta firmware via Message, please install it and test if it helps.

Hi @Joseph-TP,

Sorry for late reply.

Does the link you sent only contain the fix for the LED?

The problem is that when I change the WiFi settings in C6, everything becomes unstable and I have to reset the C6 configuration. That's why I tend to leave it alone, because if I don't touch it, it usually works fine.
