Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20250413 Rel. 44588

Hi,

I currently have the issue that my Deco is connecting to 4G automatically, even though I set the 4G/5G option to "5G preferred".

One could think that 5G is just not available but when I set it to "Only 4G", wait a few seconds (then it often switches bands from B28 to B28,B1 or just B1) and then set it to "5G preferred" again, it either instantly connects to 5G (N78, SA) or it loses connection (shows red led), then connects to 5G.

This sometimes happens during the day and almost (99%) of the time after rebooting it.

So the issue is that 5G seems to be available but it does not connect to it, even though 5G is set to preferred.

Some background information:

- I have the Deco since two years, problem occured usually less frequently (every few weeks) to now daily

- I scheduled to auto restart it every day at 4 am

- I use an external antenna (without it, it would not even get a solid 4G connection)

- Band is set to auto

- Cell lock is disabled for 4G but enabled for 5G (N78, 30 kHz) since there is only a single SA 5G tower here and it often connects to NSA 5G otherwise

- Vodafone, no custom DNS set, data roaming off, 5G signal strength usually at -106 dBm RSRP, -3 dB RSRQ, 14 dB SNR with a speed of ~250 Mbit/s down and ~20 Mbit/s up for 5G. ~1-20 Mbit/s down with 4G

I hope this can be fixed somehow because it is really annoying having to set it to 4G, then 5G again every morning.

Thanks

  @VIR2

Hi, have you tried turning off "5G Cell Lock" to see whether the 5G mobile connection gets improved?

When "5G Cell Lock" is enabled, Deco X50-5G is set to use 5G SA bands only. Vodadone SIM seems to work on both 5G SA and NSA structures.

And a new 1.3.0 version was released a few days ago. It is also recommended to manually update to the latest 1.3.0 version here:

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

@David-TP Hi David, thank you for your reply.

I enabled 5G cell lock in the first place because the connection was very unstable with NSA.

Also I would love to install the firmware update you mentioned but it is not available for my region (Germany).

Looking forward to how to continue.
