Can't login to Deco
Can't login to Deco
Cannot log in to Deco. The mesh network is functioning fine, but I'm going to have to make some changes soon for ISP reasons.
Message 'Failed to log in. Please try again'
Credentials are correct.
I see this has come up before, but I don't see a fix.

Well, I tried another reset, and I was finally offered a login to the default SSID network of the 'experimental' Deco and a normal install ensued, to the point of being offered to add another Deco. I took a deep breath and reset one of the others, wasn't discovered so I reset it again. This time it got spotted and installed. Similar story with number 3, a couple of resets were needed.
A firmware update was installed too.
Once all 3 were up I got the full user interface, went into advanced mode and set Access Point mode, which had been advised to resolve a multiple NAT issue. However, I was left with a 192.168.8.0 mesh network .. are more steps necessary ?
At least I can see my network now !
BTW, I had to turn wireless off to login to Deco app, turn it on when told to.

Hi, can I have the firmware version of your Deco S4_V2?
You can also find the IP address of the satellite Deco S4. Would it report the same error message "'Failed to log in. Please try again' " when you tried to access the web UI of the satellite Deco via this IP address?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

@David-TP How do I find the firmware version without logging in ?
The mesh default gateway is 192.168.68.1, which I presume is on the Deco attached via ethernet to the ISP router. How do I ascertain the IP addresses of the other 2 Decos (and on DHCP) and how do I point the phone to one of them.
BTW, if I turn off wi-fi on the phone I can get into the app to some extent, ie, until it tells me to turn the wireless back on, then it can't find any Decos even though the mesh is working fine.
Thanks for helping out, please continue !

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Previously, I thought you couldn't log into the Deco web admin UI. It turned out you referred to the Deco APP. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Could you please leave me a message with the MAC address of the main Deco S4(you can find it on the product label)?
By the way, when you are connected to Deco WiFi, can you access http://tplinkdeco.net on your mobile phone?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.

Looks like it connects when using http method, but it rejects credentials. If you use 'forgot passsword' it refers you back to the app.
Onwards .. cheers, Maurice

Hi, have you tried to factory reset the Deco S4 once(hold the reset pinhole for 1s), and set it up again?
When the mobile phone is connected to Deco WiFi, logging into the Deco APP is like logging into the web admin UI. It required the old password. But when using mobile data, it accepts the new password.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

That's strange, when that occurred I tried old passwords, still failed.
Are we confident I will be able to talk to reset S4s ? I don't need three bricks !
Is the procedure for reset and re-install to hit the reset immediately after a power on ? Then proceed as per original install ?

Hi,
The factory reset only needs to hold the reset pinhole for 1s, which is different from "Firmware Recovery":
Is the procedure for reset and re-install to hit the reset immediately after a power on ?
Reset will delete the current network settings, and users need to set up again on the Deco APP.
If you're worried, you can reset one of the satellite Deco S4 and use it as a main Deco to create a new Mesh system on the Deco APP.
After it is successfully online, you could consider resetting the other two units: How to create a new network in the Deco app
Thank you very much.

Tried a couple of times with a satellite (thank goodness), leaving me 2 out of 3 to work around.
All I get after a reset is, after the initial sequences, a flashing green, which is supposed to indicate firmware upgrading I waited some time for this to complete to no avail.
TTBoMK, they have not upgraded since install, so it would be well overdue, but this is as far as I get.
I have left the 'experimental' one plugged into the base unit ethernet, still flashing green after a power cycle
Can you confirm / tell me what's going on ?
cheers, Maurice

Hi, thanks for the update.
Can you see the default WiFi SSID of the 'experimental' Deco S4, such as "Deco_XXXX" when its LED is flashing green?
-If you can see the default SSID, the reset is successful, and you can continue the setup process on the Deco APP to see if it can detect the new main 'experimental' Deco S4.
By the way, you only hold the reset pinhole for 1s, right?
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.
