When will bridge mode be available on Deco X50-5G V2
Hi all,
I recently purchased the Deco X50-5G specifically for use in bridge mode, but I received the V2 version, and unfortunately it seems that bridge mode is not supported on this version (yet?).
Before I return the unit, I’d like to know if TP-Link has any plans to enable bridge mode via a future firmware update for the X50-5G V2. Does anyone have any insight or official confirmation on this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to the community.
I'm afraid there hasn't been any clear news on whether or when Deco X50-5G V2 will support Bridge mode.
If "Bridge Mode" is the main reason for Deco X50-5G, I think NE200-outdoor might be a better choice:

Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an option right now. I really hope an update will come soon, especially since I see more people requesting it. Since v1 already has Bridge Mode, it would be great if the same could be implemented for the Deco X50-5G V2. The NE220 is not a suitable option for me, though, as it doesn’t meet my needs in the same way.

@David-TP I have a Deco X50-5G hardware V2.0 (EU) and I’m requesting that Bridge Mode (true modem/bridge / IP passthrough) be added for this revision via firmware.
Also, the current “hardware lottery” situation is a nightmare: the same product name/EAN can result in different hardware revisions with different feature support, and customers only find out after purchase. In my case, this means I now have to return the device purely due to the revision/feature mismatch—not because the product is faulty.

Hi, welcome to the community.
Would there be any specific reason that you want "Bridge Mode" on the Deco X50-5G?
Deco X50-5G is a Deco Mesh router first. Wi-Fi/Routing abilities are its prioritized features. To apply to different network situations, it also adds the 5G modem function.
For dedicated 5G bridging, Deco X50-5G might not be a top choice, and most of its talents will be wasted.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Thanks for the reply. The specific reason I need Bridge Mode is that I want to use the Deco X50‑5G only as the 5G modem and keep routing/firewalling on a trusted OpenWrt router.
Bridge/IP‑passthrough would let my OpenWrt router hold the WAN IP and be the single NAT/DHCP device, which avoids double NAT and makes things like port forwards, VPN server/site‑to‑site VPN, policy routing, VLANs, and advanced firewall rules work cleanly and predictably.
I understand X50‑5G is primarily a mesh router, but the frustrating part is that Bridge Mode exists on some other hardware revisions/regions of the same model, while V2 users don’t get it.
There’s also no practical way to know which hardware revision you’ll receive before purchase (same product name/EAN), so it feels unfair and leads to avoidable returns purely due to a revision/feature mismatch.
Could you please escalate this internally to the product/firmware team and advocate for feature parity by adding Bridge Mode (or IP Passthrough) to the X50‑5G V2 firmware?

Just to add: I really like the Deco hardware and the app experience, and I’m not trying to bash TP‑Link. But this hardware‑revision/feature mismatch has turned into a lot of extra time and hassle (testing, troubleshooting, and now potentially returning/exchanging).
It also affects trust as a customer—if the same product/EAN can have different feature sets, it makes it hard to buy confidently.
Honestly, it means I’ll think twice before buying another TP‑Link product unless the hardware revision and feature parity are clearly communicated.
I’d really appreciate it if you could feed this back internally as a customer experience issue as well as a firmware feature request.
Thanks again for your help.

I’d like to add that I’m still waiting for an update on Bridge Mode / IP Passthrough for the Deco X50-5G V2 as well. For my setup, this is an essential feature.
Honestly, it feels quite absurd that customers have to hope they receive the “right” hardware revision to get certain features, even though it’s sold under the same product name.
Could you please clarify whether this feature is on the roadmap for V2, or if there is any timeline you can share? I’d really appreciate some transparency on this.
