Deco X50-PoE (Firmware 1.5.0) – DHCP lost after roaming between APs
Hello,
I am experiencing a recurring issue with my Deco X50-PoE mesh system (all units running firmware 1.5.0, backhaul via Ethernet).
-
When a client roams from one AP to another (for example with a laptop or smartphone moving between floors), the Wi-Fi connection stays associated, but the client fails to obtain an IPv4 address (only link-local IPv6).
-
Disconnecting/reconnecting to Wi-Fi does not always help. The only way to recover is to “forget the network” on the client and reconnect, which forces a new DHCP discovery.
-
My DHCP server is pfSense/Kea, and works fine with other APs. The issue only appears with Deco X50-PoE during roaming.
I checked the logs on the Deco units and consistently see the following errors when the problem occurs:
daemon.err nrd[13266]: wlanifLinkEventsCmnHandleIWEvent: unknown flag
daemon.err nrd[13266]: wlanifBSteerEventsMsgRx event type: 3
daemon.notice nrd[13266]: ar_apinfo_collect[line 1138]: AP sync timer expires!
This strongly suggests a bug in the band-steering / roaming process (802.11r/k/v), where DHCP relay or AP synchronization fails.
Could you please confirm:
-
If this is a known issue with firmware 1.5.0 on Deco X50-PoE?
-
If a beta firmware or rollback package is available to fix this problem?
-
If there are recommended settings to avoid this bug until a patch is released?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Etienne
