BE550 mesh issues
Hello,
i just installed a second BE550 v1 (fw1.1.2) as mesh satellite with wired backhault (gigabit cat 5e) and i am facing some problems.
First of all i would like to ask if it is normal for the sattelite to ask and renew its ip from the routers DHCP server every few seconds when the lease time is 7200.
Below you can see a small part from its log where it says that the lease passed on 21:40:37 received an ip with 7200 lease time and then again it says that the lease passed on 21:41:11.
2025-09-11 21:41:11 DHCPC INFO [21990] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state
2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] receive ack from server with ip xx.xx.xx.xx, options(serverid=xx.xx.xx.yy;lease=7200;subnet=255.255.255.0;dns=xx.xx.xx.zz xx.xx.xx.ww;router=xx.xx.xx.yy;)
2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] send select request with options(cliid=01/qq:qq:qq:qq:qq:qq:;)
2025-09-11 21:40:37 DHCPC INFO [21990] 1/2 lease passed, enter renewing state
this goes on continously fluding the log.
Also what does it mean 1/2 lease passed. Which is the second lease?
Now to the problem.
My nas is hardwired (2,5gbps) on the satellite and a pc is conected wirlesly (intel BE200, 3849/3843mbps mlo) to the router.
When i copy a file from the pc to nas the copy speed is 114mBps (full gigabit). When i copy the same file back to pc from the nas the speed is 44mBps.
Checking the connection between router and satelite it states 1000 mbps.
Tried diferent lan ports, different cables where possible, rebooting the satellite, rebooting the router etc, nothing changed.
So i removed the satellite and put it in access point mode. Immediately both copy speeds went to 114mBps (full gigabit).
For reference i tried again diferent lan ports, different cables where possible, rebooting the satellite, rebooting the router etc and the speed remained solid both ways full gigabit.
Convinced that there is no cable or lan port problem i reseted the access point BE550 and added it as a satellite to the mesh and boom nas to pc 44mBps, pc to nas 114mbps.
Again back to AP mode everything is fine, back to mesh satellite same 44mBps.
Also tried removing the second BE550 and replacing it with a switch, again everything is fine (114mBps both ways).
At this point i gave up as i dont understant whats going on.
One last note, i tested the above with fw1.1.2 and fw 1.1.1. I did not use 1.1.4 as i was facing problems with wifi strength and stability (from 3843 to 2888 flanctuating). Also i am very relactunt moving to 1.2.1 as then i will not be able to revert back to previous firmwares.
Any help or insight on the above will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks
Stavros

Hi@staza ,
My suggestion is to update the satellite router first to ensure that the update process is smooth in your network environment, and then update the main router.

For general information i updated both routers to a 1.2.1 beta firmware that tp-link engineers sent me and everything is fine now. Even swapt back the main and satellite routers and everything works fine. WiFi strength and mesh (wired) copy rates both ways are as expected, no mesh nodes roaming dropouts during calls, mlo on main router functions as expected, wireguard vpn also functions as expected, even no-ip ddns update issue is corrected.
Have been up and running for 2 full days with zero issues.
Thanks for the support

I am having the exact same issue. At first I thought it was my ISP. But after ping testing against my router I can see that the issue is within my mesh. I have tried everything, limiting all functionality to only 2.5 and 5Ghz wifi and updating all nodes to the latest 1.2.1 firmware. Unfortunately nothing has helped. The only thing left now is for me to do a factory reset, but I am dreading all that work...
Is there something else I can try before doing a factory reset?

there is a beta 1.2.1 firmware that resolved my issues, send to me by e-mail from the engineers.
Maybe this can help you too.

hello Joseph
i regret to say that the exact same problem came back with the latest firmware (1.2.3 Build 20260127 rel.53303(4555)).
Again when i copy from the pc to nas i get full gigabit 114mBps and from nas to pc 44mBps (see first post).
This time the situation is permanent no mater what i do (exchange main with satellite, reboot both main and satellite, reset the etc)
Do note that my be200 network card in my pc is updated to the latest intel drivers as well but the same occurs with the previous drivers too.
The pc is fully updated to the latest win11 updates.
Any help would be welcomed

Also i have dropouts in phone (wifi calling) and video calls when roaming from node to node.
Reverted back to 1.2.1 and everything went back to normal
Generally fw 1.2.3 is too buggy for me

Hello @staza ,
Thanks for contacting our community again.
You mentioned that 'Reverted back to 1.2.1 and everything went back to normal'.
Have the problems, including the 44 Mbps speed when copying files from NAS to PC and the dropped connections for both Wi-Fi and video calls, been fixed?
The firmware version 1.2.1 you reverted to, are you referring to 1.2.1 Build 20250813 rel.27119 or the beta 1.2.1 version provided by the engineer earlier?
We have noticed your feedback and have reported it to the relevant department, and we will reply here if there are any updates.

hi Joseph,
Thanks for the quick reply.
the drop outs are not in the wifi, they are in phone calls using wifi calling when i move from node to node.
I reverted back to the standard 1.2.1 firmware and everything seems to be ok (for a day now).
Both file copy from nas to pc and the call drops when roaming seem to be fixed.
The previous time i moved directly from 1.1.2 to 1.2.1 beta so i have no insights on how the standard 1.2.1 was performing.
In any case i am checking the situation on a daily basis and if the problem arise again i will move to the 1.2.1 beta witch i keep at hand at all times.
Frankly i am a little frustrated with this issue keep coming up with every firmware update since fw 1.1.1. I mean this problem came up with 1.1.1 continued with 1.1.2, corrected with 1.2.1 beta and here it is again with fw 1.2.3 with the in between firmwares 1.1.3, 1.1.4 and 1.2.2 having been replaced within days due to major lan port and wifi issues.
Actually my last pleasant experience with these routers was with the firmware 1.0.9 (apart from the 1.2.1 beta).
Working with TP-link routers all my life (at least 20 years now) this is a first. Especially for the lan part this is a first time i am facing any kind of problem.
As if the engineers forget the solutions they provided to problems in the past with every new firmware.
