@Niblet Glad you got yours working.  I want to try that version as well, but one question.  When you say it wasn't reliable because the hardware lacks range, did the firmware upgrade affect the range, or was it always like that?

@ARGamingPK1 Good to know.  I didn't know it was possible to downgrade the firmware.

@lapsmith This beta firmware is more latest than the firmware which i provided you earlier on your post. This beta is from September 2025 and the firmware i provided you is from July 2025.

Please & Thank You !! ❤️

@ARGamingPK1 Success!  That version did it, it is so nice to have control back again.  I went from one deco having a weak signal to the same on having medium to strong.

WIfi is stable so far.  Only thing I noticed is that the app refused to show the correct status of most satellites, saying they were off line when if fact they were working and LEDs verified it. Even the next day.  I did two things just now that may have helped.  I turned on beam forming and also rebooted the network.  Time will tell.

Thanks so much for the help!

Tom

@lapsmith Just wanted to update, the wifi has been stable so I'm very pleased with the beta version.  The app is still incredibly slow to update (minutes, not seconds) but a small price to pay.  Thanks again.

@David-TP I just wanted to give some feedback that the beta firmware with the connection preference option has been working fine for me. It would be great if this feature could finally be put into the stable firmware.

I have also noticed that my 3 S4's all keep appearing offline in the app even though they are actually online and working fine. However, this problem started happening for me after I upgraded to the 1.7.0 stable version. So it's not a problem specifically with the beta.

@madhatter13 I updated to the S4 beta software to get connections preference in mid January 2026 and I have been experiencing problems with my mesh failing about once every week.

All my devices connected to my mesh report being offline. I cant use the deco app on my iPhone to see what is going on. My main S4 deco stays solid white but the two satellite S4 decos go flashing Red. I unplug the flashing decos and sit by my main unit that is connected via Ethernet cable to my broadband modem and even though it's status is White I can't make a wifi connection.

Broadband modem is fine if I connect over WiFi.

I have to power cycle the main unit and it restarts fine.  The two satellite decos then reconnect and go white WITHOUT power cycle. Suggests to me just the main deco hangs up and freezes and does not even change the colour of its status light.

I am going back to Auto connection preference on my mesh to see if the network freezes stop. It had worked trouble free since purchase January 2025.
