KS230 v2 shuts off at 100% brightness
Thursday
Model: KS230 KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.11

Greetings,

I have installed KS230 (HW v2.0, FW v1.0.11).  Everything works fine (wiring is correct – no flashing red light – and I managed to add it to the app too), except the light shuts off at – and only at – 100% brightness.

  • When I turn it on, the light smoothly ramps up to 100% brightness as usual, then abruptly shuts off.
  • Even when it is off, the indicator lights on the switch shows that the light is on.  The app also says that the light is on.
  • If I dim the light (on the switch or in the app), the light comes back on.
  • If I increase the brightness back to 100%, the light shuts off again.
  • When I turn it off while the light is shut off, the light turns back on, then smoothly fades to off as usual.

Additional info:

  • The dimmer is driving 3 regular dimmable LED light bulbs.
  • The load is well under the limit at only 42W.
  • The bulbs work fine in another room with a HS220 regular/2-way dimmer.
  • The wiring is correct - no flashing red light.
  • The app says no firmware updates are available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Wayne-TP thank you for the reply!  My bulbs are Sunco BR30.  Its compatible dimmer list includes "TP-LINK KASA SMART".  I also have used them with Kasa HS220 dimmers without problems, so I do not think it's a compatibility issue.  The MLV/ELV distinction should be irrelevant, as the issue occurs at full brightness, where there should not be any voltage cuts/dimming in effect.

Could you please advise on how to solve this problem?  Thank you!
