Hello TP-Link Community,

 

I am experiencing recurring issues with my Archer C24 router (Hardware Version: 2.0, Firmware 1.13.30 Build 250815 Rel.50806n, PCBA V2).  

 

**Problem Description:**  

- Intermittent WAN instability  

- Repeated PPP library assertion failures  

- Occasional INETD select errors  

- Router occasionally **auto-reboots** without warning  

 

**Critical log entries:**

**Router Setup:**  

- WAN Type: PPPoE  

- Local IP: 172.23.18.28  

- Remote IP: 10.10.202.65  

- MTU: 1480  

 

**Steps Already Taken:**  

- Rebooted router multiple times  

- Checked PPPoE credentials  

- WAN works but instability and auto-reboots persist  

- Firmware is latest available (1.13.30 Build 250815)

**Request:**  

Could someone advise if this is a known issue or if a firmware update/patch is available? Any guidance to prevent WAN disruptions and auto-reboots would be greatly appreciated.

Most probably it's a known issue similar to the one described in this thread.

Get the latest FW version ( Archer C24(EU)_V2_1.15.0 Build 250811 ) from here. Update the router FW and test if any improvement.

📅 Firmware Update & Observation

 

Firmware updated on: 04 Oct 2025 at around 09:00 AM

 

Previous issues: Repeated pppLib.c line 863 assertion failures before update.

 

Post-update uptime: ~22 hours (no crash) until 05 Oct 2025 at 07:15 AM, when router rebooted automatically.

 

⚠️ Issues Observed After Update

 

1. Process crash:

 

[inetd]INETD: select error, abort.

 

Occurred multiple times after reboot on 05 Oct 2025:

 

00:00:26 uptime

 

00:10:23 uptime

 

12:14:49 uptime

 

Suggests persistent inetd instability even on latest firmware.

 

2. Unexpected reboot

 

Router restarted automatically around 07:15 AM (05 Oct 2025).

 

No manual reboot or power interruption was performed.

 

3. Normal PPPoE behavior

 

PPP session established correctly each time.

 

No more pppLib.c assertion errors seen after firmware update.

 

4. Repeated DHCP Offer messages

 

[dhcps]Send OFFER with ip 192.168.0.101

 

Appears frequently but likely normal Wi-Fi device activity.

 

✅ Summary

 

The firmware update fixed the PPP assertion errors (no recurrence).

 

However, inetd process crashes continue post-update, causing eventual router reboot.

 

Logs show consistent pattern of INETD: select error, abort. after every WAN reconnection or ~10–12 hours uptime.

I’m still encountering the pppLib.c line 863 assertion failure on my Archer C24 V2 even after updating to the latest firmware (1.15.0 Build 250811 Rel.54152n(5553)).
