Tapo D235 Doorbell – Voice Sound Is Muffled and Unclear
Hello,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Tapo D235 Smart Doorbell where the voice audio in both live view and recorded clips sounds muffled and unclear, even when the person speaking is standing directly in front of the device.
Interestingly, the doorbell can detect even faint background noises, so the microphone sensitivity seems fine. However, speech becomes distorted and unclear, almost as if it’s being affected by echo or reverberation.
To clarify, I live in an apartment, and the doorbell is installed outside my apartment door, which opens into a closed indoor corridor (hallway). This area tends to cause sound reflections and echo, which might be the reason why voices are unclear.
I’ve checked all the settings in the Tapo app but couldn’t find any options related to audio enhancement, noise reduction, or echo cancellation.
Additional details:
- The doorbell is hardwired (Always On mode).
- No SD card is installed in the doorbell.
- All recordings are saved via Tapo H500 Hub.
Could you please:
- Suggest any possible settings or adjustments to improve voice clarity.
- Or, if no such options currently exist, consider adding an audio enhancement / noise suppression / echo cancellation feature in a future firmware update—especially for users who install the doorbell in enclosed hallways or apartment corridors.
This would greatly improve usability for apartment setups like mine.
Thank you for your attention and support.
