Model: Archer GE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6

Model:

Archer GE800 (JP Model V1.0)

Firmware Version: 1.1.6

Connection Type: v6 Plus (MAP-E, high IPv6 load)

Issue Description:

My wired LAN connection intermittently drops. Unplugging and replugging the Ethernet cable temporarily restores the connection.

I noticed that newer global firmware versions (e.g., US 1.2.5 / EU 1.3.1) mention a fix for the critical issue:

“Delays on IPv6 activities due to an excessive number of IPv6 clients.”

Since my v6 Plus environment uses heavy IPv6 traffic, I suspect this unpatched IPv6-related bug may be causing the instability.

Questions:

  1. Does the JP firmware 1.1.6 include this IPv6 stability fix?
  2. If not, could you share the release roadmap or schedule for the next JP firmware (beyond 1.1.6) that includes this patch?

Hello @TesterTaco

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

Although we have not received advance notice of when a new official firmware for GE800(JP) V1.0 will be available, I cannot confirm either whether the unexpected behavior is related to the reported IPv6 bug.

Are you saying all the LAN devices disconnect intermittently when they are connected to the GE800 via Ethernet cables directly? Have you tested with shorter Ethernet cables? If there is a switch between, please remote it and monitor the connectinity.

How about the wireless devices? Are they connected to the internet stably all the time?

Hello @Kevin_Z

Thank you very much for your reply and for following up on this issue.

To clarify the situation and directly address your questions:

1. Network Configuration and Issue Details

  • Setup: The GE800 (JP V1.0, FW 1.1.6) is connected directly to the modem via a single Ethernet cable. There is no switch or additional device in between.

  • Frequency and Symptom: The issue is intermittent, occurring only once every few months, but when it does, the router completely loses its internet connection.

  • Workaround: The connection does not recover until the Ethernet cable between the modem and the router is unplugged and replugged.

  • Connection Type: The connection type is confirmed as IPv6 (v6 Plus / MAP-E).

2. Device Connectivity Status

  • Wired and Wireless Devices: Both wired and Wi-Fi devices remain connected to the GE800's local network (LAN).

  • Disconnection: The devices themselves do not disconnect from the GE800; only the internet access drops. (i.e., wireless devices remain connected to the Wi-Fi signal).
