Deco X20 & X50 are forgotten!?!

Deco X20 v1, v3 and Deco X50 is not getting any new firmware updates after this 1.2.4 Build 20241227 Rel. 63367. Almost all the low budget Decos like E4R, M4R are getting newer updates with newer features! But X20 and X50 are not getting any. Whereas, both the models (X20 & X50) have compatibility issues with old devices and some connectivity issues among Deco units and multiple mesh routing issues. Please update the firmware and fix all the issues immediately...

Thank you, I installed the firmware but it's very unstable. From what I've seen, this firmware is very poorly adapted to the X20 chipset, as it puts a lot of strain on the CPU/RAM even without using Wireguard/VPN. I started experiencing connection drops even with only one client connected (with or without VPN - wired or wireless - primary or satellites).
The DECO mobile app is another horror show (even before updating the firmware); sometimes it loads the VPN page, other times it gives a generic error and says it couldn't load (without an error code).
I've had the device for a year and I already feel it's practically at its end of life (EOL).
It's time to switch to another brand, because TP-Link is really a big mess, preferring a large portfolio instead of offering something functional, with a minimum of quality, and at least basic optimizations.

Hi David-TP
I own 3 Deco routers and I'm a HomeShield subscriber:
1 unit (main):
| X50/1.30 (BR - V1.32) |
1.2.10 Build 20241105 Rel. 40010 |
2 units:
| X20/3.0 (US - V3.0) |
1.2.4 Build 20241227 Rel. 63367 |
I purchased the X20 devices in Jul/2023. At first glance, I didn't like the interface (too simple), but for a home user, it was ok. I saw some upgrades untill end of 2024 and that's was good signal, even the issues were frequently... but it stopped!
Then... I've added the X50 recently (Dec 2025) directly from TPLink store and I was expecting some improvements and more features, but actually, I lost some basic functions from when I have only X20 in my network, such as "ping" and "traceroute". They simply disappeared from Deco app when I added X50.
I have other complains:
- Poor performance
- The app reports are very poor. No details. Also they are inconsistent depending on how you access them (from notification or from menu). For example, a blocked port scan does not appear in weekly or monthly report
- App lost connection to Deco frequently (mobile device and the router in the same room!!!)
- No way to identify the ethernet speed (1Gb/100Mb/10Mb)
- VPN server does not support IPv6 (my IPv4 is behind a CGNAT)
- DECO does not recognize neither devices from own brand as a native IOT device. I own some TAPO cameras and no special resources for them! I was expecting a better ecosystem integration.
- there are a lot of improvements I would like to see implemented...
In time... I was expecting advanced features in DECO Web interface like I was used to have in other TPLink routers, but the Deco web interface is ridiculous.
I've chosen Deco because of quality of my previous TPLink routers, but I'm totally disappointed. I should had read this forum before acquiring X50.
My conclusions:
- X20 (v3.0) never reached a firmware stable version and TPLink abandoned it
- X50 for Brazil (v1.32) market seems to be a sub-product and TPLink does not care about this market. I probably purchased a "clearance" device.
The last update for both was more than one year ago, confirming my conclusions.
I really expect TPLink invest some time/money to provide a least one last upgrade to provide basic features and fix defects and performance issues.
We customers don't want Beta versions and we also don't want to try to deploy a different firmware for hardware (such as a US/EU version to a BR device). We just want better support for our own devices.
TPLink should have a policy to keep the maintenance for a specific number of years for a specific model, independent of hardware version, like mobile industry does.
We really need improvements for versions above!

I couldn't agree more! That's it!
