Hey,

so I have two questions.

The first is the same one as this post: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/838068

I understand that the VX800v is a customized device specifically designed for local Service Providers, but the device is also by regular electronic stores, where I got mine from, so the ISP is not involved, thus it doesn't make sense to contact my ISP about a router they didn't send me.

So I'd want to request that the firmware of the device gets an update with the option set a custom IPv6 DNS Server or at least disable the one from the router, as having that option for IPv4 without having it for IPv6 doesn't make much sense.

^If there is no way around that, is there another device which you could recommend with more networking customization options, which offers both DSL and Fiber connectivity?

The second thing I am wondering about it:
I have multiple SSIDs setup on my VX800v and thought about getting an EasyMesh device to extend my WiFi range.

Now my question is: If I get an EasyMesh repeater, does it repeat all SSIDs the Router is hosting, or only the main one?

Best regards!

Hello @JamesBlond & @Ice01 ,

Thank you both for sharing your feedback.

Currently, most TP-Link EasyMesh devices can extend the main network when used as satellite units.

A small number of models' guest networks can be extended, but this requires both the main router and satellite device to support it.

The VX800v is a customized device, and I have difficulty keeping up with the latest updates on its feature development. However, you can contact local support for updates and provide your feedback about the IPv6 custom DNS server.

Best Regards.

Hello,

You can set up your own IPv6 DNS server under Advanced Settings—Network—your preferred connection—edit—and then again under Advanced Settings. That's how I do it with my 2.5G WAN-LAN.

I have a Vx800V and two RE3000X running as repeaters. Here, only the main SSID and the guest SSID are transferred via EasyMesh; others are not passed on to the RE3000X.
I can't say whether this is due to the EasyMesh protocol or the repeaters.

Unfortunately, the RE3000X also only connects to one Wi-Fi band from the VX800V; there still seem to be problems with the firmware here.

In a test with the same repeaters, they connect to my Deco system with both bands and the EasyMesh protocol.

Hey, yeah I also found that, but that just sets the DNS server for the Router it self and not the DNS Server advertised to the clients over WiFi or LAN.. unless I am still missing something, but that's my impression
