Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi everyone.

Is it possible to use two Archer AX53 units in Easy Mesh with the main router (AX53) configured in Access Point mode and Easy Mesh running through wired backhaul (Ethernet)?

Brief context: I have an ISP modem and I don’t want to put it in bridge mode. I want to keep its Wi-Fi disabled, but keep the network active because I have some devices connected directly to the modem via cable that need to communicate with devices connected to the TP-Link Easy Mesh network (either via Wi-Fi or via Ethernet ports on the routers).

For this reason, I need to use the main router (AX53) in Access Point mode, just extending the existing network.

Does Easy Mesh work normally when the primary router needs to be in Access Point mode?

If anyone has tested this setup or can confirm compatibility, I would really appreciate it!

Hi,

According to the list in this https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/697572 thread the Archer AX53 V2 does not support EasyMesh when in Access Point Mode.

Please verify again that both of your AX53 are indeed V2.

The Archer AX53 V1 does support it with newer firmware versions.
