Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello Community Members,

I have a BE800 main router working perfectly, and I want to extend the mesh network using a BE63 decoder. Is this possible? I've tried all the alternatives I found and haven't been able to.

Is the BE800 compatible with the DECO BE63 mesh ?

Ill try easymesh and i cant...

Thank you very much,

Christian W

Hi,

Unfortunately, the EasyMesh of the BE800 and the Mesh technology used by the Deco BE63 are not compatible with each other.

There has been an effort by TP-Link to bring EasyMesh to Deco devices, but it hasn't yielded much yet. (only two Deco models so far)

  @woozle

Thanks for the reply.

Honestly, it's really sad, since I couldn't find any information about incompatibility in any of its technical specifications, and assuming I was buying the top-of-the-line TP-Link, I thought everything was compatible...

What should I do now? Sell the BE63 receivers? Or sell the BE800?

How awful!

Christian

Hello @Christian-W ,

Thanks for contacting our community.

Deco and Archer routers currently use two different Mesh protocols.

If you already have an Archer BE800 in use and the Deco unit is newly purchased, it is recommended that you return the Deco unit and replace it with a device that also supports EasyMesh. Below is a list of EasyMesh-compatible devices; you can filter by option in the left-hand menu to select the product that best suits your needs.

Best Regards.

Thanks for the advice. Now I'm going to give TP-LINK some advice: when designing hardware products, make them compatible with your entire product range, in this case, by adding EASYMESH. It's situations like this that cause TP-LINK to lose market share and create discontent among its loyal users. In my case, it's impossible to return the set-top box since I live in Argentina and bought it from Amazon USA. Please note that I am an advanced user and professional in systems... what recommendation can I give to my colleagues and friends? I feel scammed... my apologies!

Hi @Christian-W ,

12-17 Updated:

While TP-Link's Deco, Archer Router, and Omada EAP all support Mesh functionality individually, they are not designed to work together to form a single Mesh network. These product lines, although under the same brand (TP-Link), differ in their technology and software, preventing them from interoperating in a unified Mesh network, you may still be able to use them together, but they won’t be able to form a single, unified Mesh network. In other term, if you use an Archer Router and a Deco system together, there won’t be any seamless roaming between the Router and the Deco system.

For more details, please refer to Can Deco MeshOneMeshEasyMesh and Omada Mesh products work together?

If you need help identifying compatible models or planning a mesh setup, please let us know—we're here to help.

In addition, we generally advise users to purchase products locally rather than from other regions, as this can affect the return process if products are incompatible and subsequent warranty service.

  @Joseph-TP

I still don't understand, if OneMesh is TP-Link's proprietary solution, why isn't it compatible with BE63?

Thanks
