Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.4 Build 20250926 rel. 87654 (4555)

Hi there,

First time posting here.

I have a question/issue related to EasyMesh setup between two AX53 routers that I currently have.

I live in a two floor house and my main router, an AX53 V1.0 with latest FW 1.5.4 Build 20250926 rel. 87654 (4555) is covering successfuly my ground floor. I own this router for couple of years already and never had an issue with it. I also applied FW upgrades whenever they were available.

My 1st floor & attick were covered with some older RE200 and ethernet ports, which I moved to my garage and backyard, and replaced them couple of months ago with two other AX53 routers, with the intention to build an EasyMesh network.

When I ordered them, I was not aware that there are already two HW versions and I received them with V2.0.

I set them in AP mode, they are well connected to the main router via ethernet cable (LAN ports) through some tp link 5 port GBit switches and assigned them a static IP address on the main router (AX53 v1.0) and also upgraded them to the latest FW 1.0.4 Build 20240306 rel. 66339 (4555).

Now, the surprise: AX53 HW version 2.0 looks like it does not support EasyMesh in AP mode, only AX53 HW V1.0.

Question: are you going to release any time in the near future any new FW that will allow AX53 V2.0 to be EasyMeshed while in AP mode?

So far they are working fine, just that I have way too many SSIDs and I'm looking to a seamless meshed solution in my house.

It's a bit way too late for me to return them and ask the vendor to possibly replace them with AX53 V1.0.

Thank you.

.

Hi,

As per the list in the first post of this https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/593722 thread the AX53 V2 supports EasyMesh via Ethernet backhaul, which is all you need if you want to use them as wired EasyMesh Satellites.

The procedure to connect them is very easy. Perform a hard reset on the AX53 V2 and then plug the Ethernet cable coming from the Main AX53 V1 into one of the AX53 V2's LAN ports. The AX53 V2 will reboot after a short while and once it is back up it should show up as EasyMesh Satellite on the Main AX53 V1 router. Do the same with the second AX53 V2.

Geez, never thought that's the easy way to go. Last thing I tried yesterday was via the WPS button, no luck, but your way worked like acharm, thanks a lot!

I own you a beer smiley

I guess I will manage the sattelites, like FW upgrade, via the Teether app, as it looks like in this mode the AX53 V2 router's web portal cannot be reached by their alocated IP address.

Cheers!

EDIT: just noticed that the easymeshed devices appear in the main router System -> FW Update.
