Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.7.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 240716 Rel.67874n

[Since there's only one place to put model, etc., here's the info for the Deco S4 Version 2.0 - don't know more than that as I haven't opened the box yet!]

Ideally I’d like to turn the MR6400 into a modem and disable its router functionality, but I can’t see an option to do that. Would turning off Wi-Fi, NAT and DHCP achieve the same effect and allow me to use the primary Deco as a router instead?

If not, it appears that the way forward is to turn off the Wi-Fi on the MR6400, connect the primary Deco via an ethernet cable to one of the MR6400’s LAN ports, and then configure all the Decos in Access Point mode.

Which Is the best thing to do? Or is there some better plan!!

I’d also prefer to keep my laptop hardwired, it’s currently ethernet connected to the MR6400 – should I leave it connected to the router, or to the second LAN port of the primary Deco? I guess that if I turned off NAT and DHCP on the router then I would need to connect it to the Deco.

Thanks, Graham

PS Raised a support ticket for this too, but no reply yet. Apologies for duplication.

  @GrahamPye

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

It is better to only disable WiFi on the MR6400, then connect the main Deco S4 into one of the Ethernet ports of the MR6400, and set Deco into Access Point mode.

When Deco is in AP mode, the wired laptop can still be connected to the MR6400.

Best regards.

Re:TL-MR6400 and Deco S4 Configuration?
Yesterday

 Thank you @David-TP that is what I thought might be the right thing to do.

However, I wondered if it's better to allow the Decos to do the routing - I've seen a suggestion elsewhere for a similar question where setting up a DMZ from the MR6400 to the  primary Deco was suggested.

Or, would my proposal of turning off NAT and disabling the DHCP server achieve an alternative result? If the MR6400 is not doing any address translation wouldn't it pass all traffic through unchanged, allowing the primary Deco to be configured as the router?

Thanks, Graham
