Model: General Product
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20240326 Rel. 15953

Hello,

I hope TP-Link Support could explain and somehow resolve an issue, while TP-Link Poland Phone Support wasn't able to.

This article: https://www.mercusys.com/en/faq-1350/

says it is possible to setup OpenVPN server in H80X set, as well as other VPN server types and client function, listed in other FAQ articles here: https://www.mercusys.com/en/download/halo-h80x/v1/#FAQ

Articles are dated as new, 2025-11-25. So, according to this information, a 3-pack set was bought and it turned out that there are no VPN functions at all:

The article doesn't mention any additional requirements like dependency on other settings, firmware (1.1.3 Build 20240326 Rel. 15953 here) nor hardware version (1.0 here). OpenVPN server is needed and Mercusys site mislead that it is available, while in fact it is not. Is there any way (maybe fw/hw version combination or other trick?) to make it working as in the article? It is very disappointing, to put it mildly.

Hello @Sapphire9550

Welcome to the TP-Link community.

It seems you're asking for a specific feature for a Mercusys model in the TP-Link community.

I checked the Mercusys website for you (you can check it yourself), the Mercusys H80X V2.20 supports VPN feature:

I cannot find similar release notes for Mercusys H80X V1. So I assume V1 doesn't support it.

For more specific or accurate inquiries, it's recommended to contact the regional technical support team.

@Kevin_Z
Yes, I'm aware I'm asking for Mercusys features on TP-Link forum - this was also suggested by TP-Link Phone Support, so here I am.

Thank you for your effort, I haven't checked V2.20 changelog, as there isn't a single word in mentioned OpenVPN article, that it depends on hw version. Such changelog isn't even available on PL site. Thank you for this trace once again.

Yes, regional Mercusys (= TP-Link) support was the first line I contacted, and they had no clue, even though I asked about hw version. Not very helpful, is it?
