Hi everyone —

I have a TP-LINK TL-WPA4220 Starter Kit that I use around the house. In summer I also plug a outdoor socket into the extender so I can enjoy internet in the garden.

My garden is quite large, and some spots lose connection or have very poor speeds. My ISP connection is already slow, so I’d like to improve coverage (range and stability). Is there an additional model I can buy and add to my powerline network — ideally something with external antennas or better range? It can be an outdoor unit or an indoor unit that provides a stronger signal to the garden.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Hello @NovaBilen ,

Welcome to our communtiy.

Currently, TP-Link does not offer outdoor powerline adapters. All TP-Link powerline devices are designed for indoor use and are not waterproof, so we do not recommend using them outdoors or in environments exposed to moisture. These adapters are intended to transmit network signals through your home's electrical wiring to every room within the same electrical circuit.

If you need to boost coverage to your garden, you can consider placing an indoor powerline extender as close as possible to the area where you need better WiFi, ideally near a window or wall facing the garden. Some models, such as the TL-WPA8031P, feature stronger WiFi capabilities and external antennas, which may help improve signal strength and coverage compared to basic models. However, please note that even these models should not be used outdoors or in outdoor sockets exposed to the elements.

In comparison, you could also consider business products, which have dedicated outdoor products.  You can consult it in Business Community
