  @ittroll  Not sure how you can make such a bold statement and ascertion

I wouldn't call "may not be desirable" a bold ascertion. You must had a low threshold for such things. It of course depends on your IoT, but some eco systems have a hub which needs to sit on the main network to enable local operation e.g. HomeKit.

However, I think we are agreeing that more granular NAC would be the best solution for all setups.

Until that time, can you not put your IoT on the Guest network as a workaround. It offers the functionality you desire but under a different name.

  @WelshPaul

Try cloudflare for speed testing.

Hi,
On your iPhone, please visit www.speedtest.net to test your speed and send us a screenshot of the results. Thanks!

Note: please disable mobile data on your iPhone.
Best regards

@Solla-topee I’m not foolish enough to rely on a single-speed test. I’ve already tested speedtest.net, Cloudflare and several others before posting here. It doesn't work.

For your information, I’ve disabled the randomised MAC address on my iPhone. I’ve tested this with both WiFi and Ethernet connections, plugging the cable directly into the port on the back of my BE65.

I have three Sky Stream pucks all connected to the main Deco via Ethernet. I’ve restricted them all to 1Mbps down and 2Mbps up. Then I navigated to the Netflix app on the Sky Stream box and performed a speed test. All three boxes were downloading at over 90Mbps. These boxes have a 10/100 Ethernet card so the speed limit feature on my Deco BE65’s definitely doesn’t work with the 1.3.2 Beta firmware.

  @Gino-S

I had the same problem.

I kept the main deco intact and did a full reset via the reset button to do a factory reset and reconnect to the mesh for the other 2 units one by one.

It solved the same problem as you were describing

  @Shahinj

Try disconnecting power for a minute, not just a reboot. Or a factory reset by holding in the reset button at the bottom with an extended paperclip for a few seconds whilst powered on.

Since updating my Deco BE65 system to firmware 1.3.2, my P1 smart meter IOT device (connected to the P1 port of my energy meter) can no longer connect properly when MLO is enabled.

As soon as I disable MLO, the P1 meter reconnects immediately and works normally again.

So the issue seems directly related to MLO compatibility with certain IoT devices on 2.4 GHz.

Current setup:

  • Deco BE65 V2 EU mesh system
  • Firmware 1.3.2
  • 2 wired deco + 1 wireless backhaul

Before this firmware, the P1 meter was much more stable.

Is anyone else having issues with P1 smart meter devices or other IoT devices when MLO is enabled on the latest firmware?

Hopefully TP-Link can improve MLO/IoT compatibility in a future update.

  @Gino-S

I use a separate SSID for MLO and only allow devices I know are fully WiFi 7 MLO compatible... very few are. An example of compatible is a Samsung S25 or S26 phone. If other devices are allowed to try to connect to an MLO network, there are a lot of problems.
