Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1

I got this router at the end of 2025 and it certainly has made my experiences with my internet provider way better, minus some unreliability in the range department. The router has lots of features that have improved my network performance, but I did really wish for some that I believed it was missing, such as being able to run multiple VPNs at once and have all network packets sent through the VPN too. I only just found out that the V2 which largely has the same hardware has these features added in one of the firmware updates, one feature I know wouldn't run on the V1 or so I've heard is the MLO network running WiFi 7 on the 2.4 GHz band, however I am not after that at all, I just need the VPN features, and the only thing stopping that happening is TPLink themselves, I also have heard that the V1 even has a slightly processor so there truly shouldn't be any reason for the feature to not be available, not to even mention the fact the V1 is the only one available in the UK, so even if I wanted to switch mine for the V2 I couldn't. So please tell me you all have plans to bring it to the V1, or is it all a plan to force customers to go for the V2 that potentially has cheaper hardware by withholding features on the earlier model?

Hi @Kazipex ,

It is absolutely not TP-Link's intention to withhold features to force customers to purchase newer hardware. Hardware version differences between V1 and V2 can sometimes affect which features are technically supportable on a given model, but this is based on hardware capabilities rather than a deliberate business strategy.

Unfortunately, we don't receive advance notice of whether new updates will be released or when a specific feature will become available. TP-Link only releases new firmware versions when there is a bug, flaw, or vulnerability to patch, or when a new feature is ready to be added. As we are not part of the software development team, we are unable to provide a definitive timeline or confirmation for specific feature rollouts.

We recommend keeping a close eye on TP-Link's official website for any new firmware updates for your model: https://www.tp-link.com
