Model: Deco X50 - PoE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20250619 Rel. 69357

I have three X50-PoE decos all connected to a SG108PE switch (1Gbps, PoE). The main deco is set to Wi-Fi Router mode, and the other two decos are placed at other sides of my house.

I basically want to create a T shaped structure, in which:

  • The main X50 is connected to the internet on one end, and the SG108PE switch on the other end.
  • The other two X50s are connected to SG108PE switch, so that they can connect to the main one using the wired connection.

What I am noticing is that this is not working as I would expect it to work:

  • The two non-main X50s sometimes connect via ethernet, but mostly just use WiFi to connect to the main deco
  • When I get the two non-main X50s to connect using ethernet, they like to fall back to WiFi over time.
  • The two non-main X50s sometimes even try to connect to each other, even though the signal between both is extremely bad.

I think the X50s prefer the WiFi connection over ethernet, because the wired 1Gpbs connection is in theory slower than what the WiFi can do. In practice however, it’s not … so I would like to force the non-main X50s to connect to the main one over ethernet. I’ve searched the Deco app for  such an option, but the only thing I found is a switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but no ethernet option.

So: is there a way to force the non-main X50s to connect over ethernet to the main deco?

If not:

  • This seems like is a pretty big feature gap which I would hereby like to file a Feature Request for :)
  • Could getting a TL-SG105PP-M2 (which has 2.5Gbps ports) trick the X50s into using the wired connection (as the wired connection is then as fast as what the WiFi connection can offer), or would they still just use whatever they think is best?

Thanks,

Bramus.

  @Bramus

Hi, have you tried to disable "Loop Prevention" on the TL-SG108PE?

If it didn't help, please refer to this link to help me submit the Deco App log:

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
