Satellite Router (Archer BE230) Keeps Dropping 5GHz on Wired EasyMesh
Hi,
I am using two Archer BE230 routers connected via Ethernet cable (Wired EasyMesh). The main router works fine, but the satellite router frequently drops the 5GHz band and only broadcasts 2.4GHz.
Troubleshooting done:
.Verified the Ethernet connection is active and stable.
.Factory reset the satellite router and re-added it to the mesh.
.Changed the 5GHz channel on the main router to fixed channels (e.g., 36, 44) instead of Auto.
These steps fix the issue temporarily, but the 5GHz band drops again after a while. Is there a permanent solution or a known firmware bug?

Hello @waseemadiga ,
Welcome to our community.
May I know the complete topology? For example, ISP modem—BE230—)))((( client devices
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
Is there a switch between the BE230 routers? If yes, please remove it for the comparison test.
In addition to changing the channel number (which you've already done), try adjusting the 5GHz channel width. Set it to 80 MHz or 40 MHz instead of Auto or 160 MHz, as wider channels can sometimes cause stability issues.
If possible, please swap the roles of the two routers, that is, set the Satellite node as the main router for comparison, to confirm whether the 5G disconnection only occurs in a specific router unit or a specific role.

@Jos The topology is: ISP Modem — Main BE230 — Satellite BE230. There is no switch between them. I changed the channel width to 80 MHz and will monitor it. If it fails, I will swap the routers.

Any updates for your case? I noticed you replied to another post—it seems the situation remains unchanged?

@Joseph-TP HI Joseph
unfortunately the issue still remains and i think it is a firmware issue because i noticed that it is not only me and other people who face the same issue they have the same firmware version
we are looking forward to solve this issue with new firmware

Hello @waseemadiga ,
Thanks for getting back to us.
I noticed your response to the case here. However, the anomaly described by that user does not exactly match the symptoms you are experiencing.
Please try the wireless backhaul for BE230 units. Will the problem recur?
Have you tried swapping the roles of your two BE230 units—specifically, by configuring the unit currently serving as the Satellite router to act as the Main router instead?
Additionally, you mentioned that manually setting the Main router's 5GHz channel to a fixed channel (such as 36 or 44) temporarily restores stability. Roughly how often do these disconnections occur? Do they happen at very specific, predictable times?
We would like to escalate your case to the support engineers, and they will follow up on it. If you are willing to conduct further analysis, please check your inbox and respond.
