Hi

we have Tapo TC41 cameras and we are struggling with the detection zones. As they are near to a road we have set each camera up with zones that don't capture passing vehicles or lights. However despite the reviews saying that AI works and then knows regular people or vehicles this doesn't happen. Thus we are having to put the cameras into hone mode when we are not there and the postman comes or any other tradesman. It triggers it massively.

When we then go back to set it to away mode, each cameras detection goes to "set all" rather than "set each" so we have to manually go back into each cameras detection and change back detection to set each rather than all. This is a real hassle and we will send the cameras back as there must be a way that the specific zones are saved as the default rather than having to do it each time. Never mind the AI aspect not working which would mean this wouldn't become a problem!

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Tapo TC41. We understand how frustrating frequent false detections and repeated configuration changes can be, especially in scenarios where cameras are installed near a road.

Regarding the frequent detections, we recommend reviewing the following settings to help reduce unwanted triggers:
1. Lower the motion detection sensitivity
2. Enable only Person Detection, and disable vehicle or general motion detection if those are not required
3. Fine‑tune the detection zones to exclude areas with passing traffic or changing light sources

As for the issue where detection settings change after switching back to Away Mode, please check your Away Mode configuration carefully. Make sure that: The specific camera is selected within Away Mode.

The desired detection zones and detection settings are configured directly under Away Mode, rather than relying on the default settings. Each mode (Home / Away) maintains its own configuration. If the detection zones are not set under Away Mode, the system may revert to a default “Set all” configuration when the mode is activated.

For detailed, step‑by‑step guidance, please refer to the following FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2619/

Best Regards.
