Model: Tapo C560WS  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.8

I have a C560WS camera and have installed the app on 5 phones: 2 x Samsung S24+ phones, an LG phone, a Samsung S21 and a Samsung A52. 

 

On ALL phones I have:

- given notification permissions

- enabled notifications (in the app)

- the same account

- installed the app via Google Play Store

- no battery optimisation enabled (which might prevent notifications) 

- receive notifications from other apps (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) 

 

Basically the same settings on all phones... 

 

And yet, on the S21 and the A52 I NEVER receive any notifications whatsoever. 

 

Is there some kind of limit for devices when it comes notifications? Is this by design? If not, what am I doing wrong?

 

I repeat, the settings are pretty much the same on all phones.

To clarify first, there is no limitation on the number of phones that can log in to the same primary Tapo account or receive notifications. This behavior is not by design, so we’ll need to further troubleshoot why notifications are not arriving on the Samsung S21 and A52.


You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot:What should I do if Tapo/Kasa notifications are delayed or not working?

Please confirm the following information if the problem remains.
   1. Send me the pictures of the camera's Device Settings > Detection page and the Notifications page.
   2. Check if you have received notifications on the Tapo app > Home tab > Bell icon > your camera page.
   3. Please confirm the troubleshooting you did and the results.


If the problem persists, contact our customer service team and provide the results of the above troubleshooting steps.

Thank you for your screenshot. However, the screenshots you provided are from the phone that is receiving notifications normally. We need you to check the settings on the two phones that are not receiving notifications.
Could you please follow the steps in this FAQ and provide screenshots of the Tapo app notification settings from those two affected phones? This will help us further investigate the issue:What should I do if Tapo/Kasa notifications are delayed or not working?

 

Based on the information available, the issue may still be related to system settings on the specific phones. Please confirm that the Tapo app on those two phones(a Samsung S21 and a Samsung A52 ) was downloaded from the Google Play Store, and check whether there are any differences in system settings between those phones and the devices that are receiving notifications normally.

Good news!

Somehow notifications started working on the A52.

It's funny how bugs seem to disappear when you're about to start investigating them.

 

I'll cut my losses with the S21. Both phones were used by the same person anyway, so no point in receiving "double" notifications anyway.
