When will wireguard come on
Hello!
When will wireguard support appear on the Deco S7?

@Bolkonsky The deco s7 has RTL8198D which is a very old processor with 32-bit MIPS cores. MIPS lacks the mathematical processing pipeline efficiency found in modern ARM architectures.
I have the x60 with modern Qualcomm IPQ5018 / IPQ8071 but even then it bottlenecks the download speeds to 60-100 Mbps and the whole mesh connectivity becomes unstable.
If you really want a Wireguard on every device via deco you'll need to offload it to a seperate hardware like a raspberry pi that sits between your ONT and the decos that way you can get the full speeds while getting wireguard on each device connected to deco.

Hi,
@Bolkonsky Thank you for your feedback here. While we don't have specific details on whether the WireGuard feature can be added to the Deco S7 and when it might be, I'll log the feature request and pass it along to the relevant team for evaluation.
@Dhubu The Deco X60 has two Gigabit ports, and the wired download speed from the Deco can reach up to 1000 Mbps. If your download speed is limited to 100 Mbps, even if your ISP has provided more than 100 Mbps download speed, please refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot: Fix Slow Deco Internet Speed: Setup, Testing, and Troubleshooting

@Solla-topee >The Deco X60 has two Gigabit ports, and the wired download speed from the Deco can reach up to 1000 Mbps.
Yes it can if I am not using the Wireguard VPN from the router, setting up the Wireguard VPN client reduces the speeds to 100 Mbps because the inbuilt CPU Snaldragon IPQ 5018 dual core on the X60 on the v4.2 does not have the processing power to attaing gigabit speed while processing the encrypted VPN tunnel it bottelnecks the speeds on the VPN running natively.
Not only the networks speeds go down the device also overheats and throttles with load at 100 percent all the time, heat generated will be more and the lifespan goes down
Hence its better to offload the VPN processing to another hardware like a rasberry pi 5 b/w the ONT and the Deco that way you'll get full speeds on the decos.

Hi,
Usually, after configuring the VPN, the VPN connection speed may be limited. However, on the Deco app > Advanced > VPN Client > Access Permission page, you can select All Clients or select Client List to allow only some clients to use the VPN function. If devices connected to Deco do not use the VPN, their download speeds may be slightly different from what they were before using the VPN.
Anyway, thank you for the suggestion to offload the VPN processing to another hardware for better performance.
