Hello community,

I need your suggestions regarding some problems i have on my wifi coverage at my house.

My house is a two story concrete house with a small garage building, approximately 5-6 meters away from the closest house's exterial walls.

I have passed cat6 cables throughout the rooms and terminated them in my office on a patch panel, which then are connected from an unmanaged switch to my isp's router which is located in my living room, the furthest away from my garage.

Now because the wifi coverage was bad from the ground floor to the upstairs room i added an Archer AX300 in access point mode to provide wifi coverage in the upper floor but due to the physical obstructions ( walls, closets, etc) the coverage isn't great but it is acceptable.

At my garage there's no network infastructure or any ethernet sockets unfortunately so i have to rely on my wifi to connect to my Photovoltaic inverter and my recently installed wireless camera.

Because the wifi coverage in my garage was that bad i've placed an RE700X to the closest interior wall of house and an RE700X to the interior garage wall closest to the house.

Despite this setup the camera appears offline and sometimes i need to restart the garage RE700X to work.

I know that the optimal solution would be to take an ethernet cable to my garage and just place a router in the garage, this involves quite a lot of work ( drilling exterior walls, breaking tiles, adding an ethernet wall socket, etc).

Is there a setup i should try before "biting the bullet" to fix this issue? If i purchase another AX3000 and place it between the ISP router and the rest of the house and enabling EasyMesh fix this issue?

Any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hello @Asperus ,

Welcome to our community.

If the garage and the residence share the same electrical circuit, using a powerline adapter kit (such as the TL-WPA series) offers a practical solution that avoids the hassle of laying new Ethernet cables. This allows you to establish a stable wired or wireless connection for the cameras and inverters in the garage. Also, you can refer to What is a WiFi Booster and How to Choose the Best One to select a produce that may suits you.

How Powerline Adapters work:
Powerline products work by turning your home's existing electrical wiring into network cables, transmitting internet signals from room to room — or in your case, potentially to your garage. To set up a powerline network, you need at least two devices:
• A primary powerline adapter (base unit): plugged into a wall socket near your router and connected to the router's LAN port via an Ethernet cable.
• A secondary powerline device (extender): plugged into a wall socket in the area where you need connectivity (your garage), which then provides either a wired Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi (on models with Wi-Fi support, such as TL-WPA series).

Important consideration for your garage:
The most critical requirement is that all powerline devices must be on the same electrical circuit. If your garage is on a separate electrical circuit from your house, the powerline signal may not pass through reliably or at all. Before purchasing, it's worth checking whether your garage shares the same electrical circuit as your home — this will determine whether a powerline solution is viable for your setup.

Additionally, keep in mind:
• Avoid plugging powerline adapters into power strips or extension boards; always use a direct wall socket.
• Avoid placing them near surge protectors or air switches, as these can block the powerline signal.

For a detailed setup guide, you can refer to: How to secure (pair) the Powerline Network ;
