Model: Archer GE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.3 Build 20260210 rel.43232(5553)

I recently upgraded my internet service and, as a result, required a new router. My previous device, the Archer AX95 AX7800, was no longer suitable due to its limitation of a single 2.5Gb WAN/LAN port and only 1Gb LAN ports.

After conducting extensive research—particularly into WiFi 7 capabilities, future-proofing, and multi-gigabit LAN support—I initially considered the BE800. However, I ultimately opted for the GE800, which I found cheaper on an offer.

The setup process and replacement of the AX95 were straightforward. I also completed the suggested firmware update to version 1.3.3 Build 20260210 rel.43232(5553). Following installation, I was able to achieve network speeds exceeding my 2000Gb internet service. Additionally, integrating my two existing RE700X units via EasyMesh was quick and seamless.

This configuration worked well for approximately one week, after which I experienced an unexpected reboot. There were no relevant entries in the system logs. Subsequently, when accessing the web interface, I encountered an “Interface return exception” error, along with a complete loss of all DHCP entries and an empty client list.

Restarting the router via the web interface temporarily resolves the issue after approximately five minutes; however, all reserved device names are erased in the process. While the system remained stable for another day without further reboots, the issue has since recurred. The interface exception has returned, and the DHCP list is again unavailable.

Although the network itself remains operational—internet connectivity and mesh functionality are unaffected—I am unable to manage the router through the web interface without performing a reset. This also prevents access to features such as enhanced gaming options and AI QoS settings.

At this stage, I am approximately 14 days into ownership, so returning the device is still an option. However, doing so would be inconvenient, as it would require reverting to the AX95 while awaiting a replacement. I am therefore unsure whether this is an isolated hardware fault or indicative of a broader issue with the device, and whether I should consider an alternative model or manufacturer.

@Iccle_Dave I too am a user of this router like you. Im also beta testing the firmware for this router to try and help provide useful feedback and logs, but the process has definitely been extremely slow. All of the stuff you are experiencing is completely valid and is a very stubborn bug that took me a while to capture on logs. I have yet to hear back from Tp-Link regarding this.

If you look through the forum, you'll see several posts by users talking about the issue. I recently made a post which upon my own research and digging through came up with a possible reason as to why a flagship router has not been given new features. You are still early as you said in your window as far as return goes. You could select another router if you'd like that isn't currently plagued by a lot of issues or ride it out with the rest of us and hope that one day everything will be fine. When we will get a fix for all of this or New revision 3 (R3) firmware is honestly unknown. I was told this week I would hear back but didn't hear anything as far as the new firmware goes or any findings from the logs I provided. They also quoted next week, but we'll see how that goes.

@Iccle_Dave At this point, I believe we all made a mistake by buying this router. These issues have always been there since even I bought the router. You actually just missed the phase where the router used to completely factory reset itself and wipe everything, including all the SSID's. Slightly now beginning to feel like this is all a big plan to frustrate customers enough so they are forced to buy the newest and latest router. At least you my friend, still have an option so read through all the posts in this forum and maybe even reddit and see what people have experienced and are currently experiencing and then make the decision for yourself.
