RE200 won't give internet access
RE200 won't give internet access
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I have a RE200 extender connected to a router. (full connection line is: VDSL modem connected with WAN to a router. The router is connected to the RE200 with WiFi. Router is main DHCP server)
All indication lights on the RE200 are green (I'm connected with 2.4GHz only, so I have 3 lights - wifi, power and 2.4GHz) and I see a proper IP address on the router.
When connecting a device to the extender (I have the name different from that of my main router), I get a "Connected, no internet" message.
I have tried to change DHCP option into all available options.
I only get a connection when DHCP is set to "on" (in "Auto" and "off" modes, I can't even connect to the extender).
I even tried disabling the main routers DHCP option and set static IP's to each device while leaving the DHCP server "on" on the RE200.
Nothing works.
I can connect to the extender, but can't get internet access.
Tried contacting the TP-Link support team, but got no answer for this !!!
Anyone has any idea what's wrong ? It seems to me like some DHCP contradiction or something related to that.
PLEASE HELP !

I am with the same issue.
RE200 pretty new.
Support Center sent me a poor answer over signal power that does not regard to this trouble. Disgusting and frustrating !
Hope anyone could help here.

I got the solution thru the TP-Link Support Center.
I encourage you to insist and ask them for support, I cannot describe it here because it is extensive, not simple (for me), I just followed the instructions by phone. It requires many parameters reconfig.
Anyway I asked them to post here the troubleshooting procedure to turn it available for everyone.
Good lucky.

I had the same issue with my RE200 - it just couldn't handle DHCP. Randomly some devices couldn't receive an IP.
After a dozen of emails exchanged with support, finally TP-Link support updated my RE200 Firmware to version 1.1.1 so that I can now switch on/off DHCP, and configure it's Pool of addresses.
It was definitely a software issue. I was almost trying a 3rd party software, but then TP-Link cooperated.
I'll run some tests this week, because the firmware has been just updated today. I have hope that it will work... but I'll let you know.

Hi
I have similar issue. Device RE200 v3.0, firmware 1.1.0 build 20190731.
Device is working fine as range extender, but when I try to use it as access point I have no internet access.
Some more details: re200 is configured with static ip, lets say 192.168.1.10, proper mask. Default gateway is my router: 192.168.1.1, same IP for DNS and DHCP.
As soon as RE200 is plugged into the network no devices on my whole network can acces default gateway anymore. This is true for both wired and wifi - connected via re200.
Wifi devices get addressses from proper range, f.i. 192.168.1.70, proper gateway etc, but gateway (my router) is not accessible.
If i logon to re200 wep page, it shows proper IP and says that dhcp is off (this is expected, as dhcp is running on router).
It seems extender RE200 has problem. Please advise.
regards,
Michal

I have a similar problem.
My RE200 doesn't set the correct Gateway and DNS server. It sets the RE200 IP as the value for the gateway and DNS.
I have already asked to set it as static, it works for some while and then gets back to the same bad IP configuration.
it is very frustating.

Same (or similar problem).
Brand new RE200. Was on support chat for 2 hours with no resolution (and actually no suggestions for things to try other than "reboot it and the router" which I'd already done). Confirmed most up to date firmware. But the interface still didn't give me much control over DHCP (can't define IP pools, for example, as seems to have resolved for some other people in this thread). Guess the US version of the firmware isn't as updated as it is for some other regions.
It does appear to be a DHCP issue for me. It always assigns me either a 169.254.x.x (which support said for them means its a complete error in IP assignment) or a 192.168.0.x where x > 100. That should work, but I get no internet access when it happens (confirmed by browser and terminal ping to 8.8.8.8). My router allows a DHCP pool up to 128, so it seems like this should work, but doesn't. However, if I self assign an IP address on my computer, e.g., 192.168.0.40, internet works fine and everything is dandy.
