Parental controls not working?

Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20180425 rel.72768(4555)

I can't get the parental controls to work at all. I've been through the instructions here: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1531/

Basically, whatever I do, I can't get it to block wi-fi. The MAC address shown is for my phone. The settings should ALLOW wi-fi access from 17:00-18:00 right? But I still have wi-fi.

And the UI sucks. Most of the time I can't change the "Internet acccess time" because when I click on the time slots nothing happens. Occasionally I can select the time slots; usually nothing happens.

Here is my understanding of the rule

1. By default you can access the internet all time all website when no parent control is active.

2. you parent control rules take effect during 17:00-18:00. So during 17:00-18:00, things may change. And you still have internect access during other times (see rule 1)

3. during 17:00-18:00, you parent control allows to access nothing because you uses whitelist with no website defined. So you can not access any website during this time.

correct me if I am wrong.

Oh wow - that worked. What an unintuitive system! Many thanks! I still have unresponsive UI problems. But this is a big step forward.

Hi,

Sorry to repsond late and glad to hear that you figured it out.

While for your information, the internet access time is the time period when the rules take effect. Cause you choose whitelist without any keywords, the device under parental control cannot get internet from 17:00-18:00.

For the time slot selection, you can change different web browser and devices to give it a go.

May it help. Good day.

@JonMason

Hi... I was searching online for same problem. I have Archer C1200 with same interface as you have posted. Unfortunately, I am facing exactly same issues as you are having with regards to parental control. Could you figure out the reason!!!

Help please!!

Same goes for Archer C60 V2.0

No changes after trying to set parental control.

Actually it only control/restrict the router main login page on the device which i select for parental control.

The complete block devices is working fine, but that function dont have timer.

tplink router can proper block but why not fix the bug in the parental control option ?

i need to block on scheduled time only.

pls look into this matter.

@Kevin_Z why parental control block only sites in browser? I'm completely set time for device, empty "whitelist" and I still can use telegram, youtube via app etc. Any option for full block of the access to the internet?
