Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a 3 unit M5 system, with one of the M5 units being used as my main router. The system works well and i now want to expand it by adding a M9. I intend to make the M9 as the main unit. There are instrcutions on tp-link support on how to do this, but my question is ... When I swap the main router, will the M9 retain automatically the settings I have in the M5 router (port forwarding, IP reservations etc)?

Thanks.

Add M9 on existing network normally, after this, change M9 to main Deco and put M9 as main router. Change M5 with M9 after this.

All settings on M5 will be used by M9.

Hi,

After you swap the main router as the instructions, the Deco M9 plus will retain the settings you have in the M5 automatically.

May it help and have a nice day.

Well, that was easy. M9 arrived today. Took all of 15 minutes to swap over including update. No issues.

Very happy with that - good stuff TP-Link!
