Hello,

I got the archer c6 last week and it's been a nuissance ever since. Now it`s working but the hidden network that it emitts bothers me so much. I have no use for it, no deco mesh no nothing.

Why is not there an option to disable it? I think I will return the router and buy something else.

I bought Archer C6 v2.0 week ago and I agree - this hidden network is really annoying and there should be an option to switch it off.

I am seeing the same thing on a new AC 1200 A6.  Both hidden networks on 2.4 and 5

Have the same problem on Archer C6 AC1200 v2.0 that came with the latest firmware (january 2020 fixes). TP dudes even made it difficult to install openwrt on the router so m stuck with tp-link's firmware ;-;

I am still using 1.2.1 because on newer version are not changing some parameters like channel width after setup in GUI, and also when I disable for example 5 GHz, router still emiting hidden channel regarding one mesh. I am not understand, why is not possible to disable all transmission within wirelles schedule period.

@Kevin_Z  Please pass along to your engineering time one scenario (mine) where the Mesh network always on is a real problem.

I have 2 TP-Link routers both are configured to run in AP mode slaved to my main router.  I am in a congested wifi neighborhood and since most of my wifi devices in the house are 5G capable, I only have the 2.4Ghz band enabled on my main router.

I have tried turning off (disabling) the 2.4Ghz band on the TP-Link devices but still have the no-ssid MESH broadcast from both devices. In a congested wifi area with limited open channels, this is a big problem. I want to completely disable those two on 2.4Ghz but they insist on broadcasting the MESH network which I will never use.

This is causing problems with a secondary WIFI network that I have setup for my security cameras with constant interference because I can't turn them off.

I don't want to throw them away as they 5Ghz band works great for my purposes.

Please tell me there's a way that I can completely turn off the 2.4Ghz channel on these.

@gdog I am having a similar issue with my Deco M4 mesh system, I just wish I could enable/disable the source interface (The hidden SSID in my case) since I use ethernet as the backhaul.  :(

@gdog

Hello,

As we respond earlier, the hidden wireless network is not a bug, and it is used to build up the mesh wireless network system. For more details, please refer to the below article, which will help answer it:
