TL-WPA4220 - WiFi functionality hangs after a day or so
TL-WPA4220 - WiFi functionality hangs after a day or so
Hi,
I have a problem with WiFi functionality. After a day (sometimes later, sometimes earlier) WiFi network disapears. eg. is no working and any device can see it anymore. The connection through ethernet cabel is still working. So it's something wrong with WiFi functionality I guess. If you plug-off and plug-it again, it strats working. Constantly reboot the device is not a solution in my case.
I see many users post the same issue here for weeks(!) with no helpful reaction :-(.
Have you got any solution?
Firmware version: 4.0.3 Build 20190326 Rel.43406
Hardware version: TL-WPA4220 v4.0
TP-LINK Team, could you be so kind and advise what should I do to use your product?

Hi, All.
Thank you very much for your continuous concern about this case.
Recently, we had several feedbacks that once TL-WPA4220 updated to the latest firmware, the internet connection would be very unstable such as not connecting to the Wi-Fi, and/or the Wi-Fi just disappearing.
If you had a similar issue, we suggested that you could roll back to the previous firmware: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202010/20201030/TL-WPA4220_180308.zip to have a look.
And if it did not make any difference, please feel free to update here or send me a private message.
Thanks a lot.

Hello, we will do some troubleshooting to locate this issue and try to fix it.
1. What is the led status of the TL-WPA4220 when the wifi disappeared? Especially the wifi led.
2. Have you ever tried to turn off the wifi function and re-enable it by holding the wifi buttom?
3. Please ensure that the firmware is the latest one, and you can change the wireless settings to give it a go, including wireless channel and channel width.
Note: You can use the tpPLC utility to do that; instruction attached: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1611/
Besides, may I know when did you buy this powerline adapters?
Best regards.

Hi, the same happens to mee too.
I am working from home. I have two laptops and a phone connected to the device.
At some point all suddenly lose connection, and the device itself is not reachable from the network.
I have to unplug it and plug it again in the poiwer socket.
I get quite annoyed especially because it also happened several times during video sessions I need to keep with my team.
@Support Any clue? I need to have this working. Otherwise I will have to change to another kind of adapter.
Thank you.
EDIT: I suspect it has to do with concurrent connections from multiple devices bringing the device into hanging.

Could you please provide more information asked on my previous reply?
And have you ever tried to do some troubleshooting? What are they and what about the corresponding results?
Good day.

Yes, with TPLink support. After long session they said it might be a hardware issue, so I should send the unit to warranty testing. Instead I shall buy another adapter, probably av1200. The kit I have was bought from another country. Cheers.

I have the same problem. I use the WPA4220 (EU) for my smartphone to listen broadcast. After minutes or longer, until hours the Internetconnection (datatraffic) is stopped.
New firmware 20190326 Rel 43406 changed nothing. Even if I connect an extern WiFi-accesspoint devise on the LAN-port, it is the same.
The WPA4220 (EU) -device was bought in 2019.

Hi @KrM49 ,
I have solved the issue with support from TP-link, they privided me with a firmware (marked as 4.0.3 Build 20180920 Rel.57814) that solved the problem in my case.
I would suggest you contact them by email or chat and point them to this conversation, along with your description of the issue.
Good luck!

@Gajowy I have just spent an hour on TP-Link chat without a fix. Does anyone know how to get hold of Release 57814? The person I was chatting with went though a standard checklist that went round in circles.
