VPN Server missing on C80
Hi!
I just purchased Archer C80. When I went to the Advanced admin settings, I was expecting to see the VPN Server option as mentioned on https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1545/
https://d.pr/i/OgFbW1
However, there's no such option.
Am I doing something wrong or is it simply not supported on this router (even though it's in the docs)?
Thanks!

Hello all,
The current firmware for the C80 doesn't support VPN function, and we have already forwarded it to the related department. However, we cannot guarantee now whether the VPN feature will be added on the current C80 hardware, as it will depend on the chip or memory, or other hardware limitation, but we don't know much more.
If you do need this VPN feature urgently, it is suggested to contact the reseller to check if they can replace it with a model that already support it.

@Kevin_Z can you give an approximate date when a firmware with VPN server feature will be available for the C80. It depends on this feature if I return it (Amazon) or keep it, the WLAN performance and file transfer performance is actually good but in this price class I really need the VPN server to keep it. Otherwise I would have to return it and get a Netgear routher with VPN, I rather would keep the C80.

Hello, sorry that we cannot give you an ETA, as we confirmed this with our developers, what they mentioned is that the VPN function will be probably supported in 2021.
Back to your case, if you do need this VPN feature right now, it is suggested to contact Amazon to see if they can replace it with a model that already support it.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

@Kevin_Z I am thinking about replacing the C80 with the Archer C2300. Will it have the same WiFi range and strength (or better or weaker) than the C80?
According the the spec sheet only the C80 has the High-Power FEM feature and C2300 does not. Will this result in a weaker signal coverage and range?

@Kevin_Z Hi Kevin, I will also look out for this as I have a pressing need to implement a VPN Service and was hopeful that my c80 could this.
Am watching the website in eager antisipation!

Hi, thanks for adding your voice on this VPN server feature on the C80 router, as mentioned in my previous post that it will be added in the future firmware updates as promised by our R&D, while we cannot give you an exact ETA yet, sorry about that.

@Kevin_Z
Hey is there any update as of now ? even the latest firmware upgrade didn't come with any VPN update or Bandwidth control.
Also is this firmware opensource since its based on mediatek?
Thanks.

Hi, thanks for reminding, while we have no ETA yet.
We don't provide the open-source code for the Archer C80, it is not developed on the basis of any open-source system.
