Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.1

Just purchased and installed a 3 node M5 home mesh system and set my Virgin Superhub 3 into modem mode.  WiFi reception and speeds much improved from when the Superhub was in router mode but I still have a couple of disappointingly low readings.  Any advice please on the benefits of extending the system using one or two more M5 nodes or would one or two M3W units do the job just as well but more cheaply?  Thanks.

@T52

Hi,

Did you use the Deco M5 as the access point mode now?

It is ok to add Deco M3W to extend the Mesh system.

Moreover, in order to maintain good performance, the same model would be much better.

Thank you.

@TP-Link Thanks for your advice and I note your recommendation to extend the mesh network by using another M5 rather than an M3W.

Can you explain further please what the advantages and disadvantages would be of using advanced settings to switch to access point mode?

In case it's relevant to your answer, I'm not using and don't need to use any of the Ethernet points on the two remote wireless linked nodes.

Thanks again for your help.
