Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have a deco m5 system. I need to connect my printer up to the network with an ethernet cable connected to an access point other than one of the m5s (the printer location does not suit an m5).

Please can anyone recommend a device they use in a similar situation (I want to avoid forking out for another m5 just for this).

I've been pulling my hair out trying to get other devices I own (including some tp-link ones) to work stably with the M5 as a wireless access point for the printer. So a recommendation that works would be appreciated.

@jaffs

Hi, you could have a look at the powerline adapters if the whole place is under same electric meter;

Thank you.

@TP-Link Thanks for your reply. I will certainly look into this if I can't get my alternative tp-link router device as an access point.

I have a powerline Wifi Access point connected to my Deco M5 network and it works well (I use it for IoT devices who don't like a mixed 2.4ghz/5ghz shared SSID)

@richpriest thanks. I may go down this route. The effort involved in getting an old tp-link router to work as an access point is significant. I'm near yet so far in doing this.
