Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.3 Build 20210203 Rel. 68223

TP Link Experts,

I have 3 x Deco M5 configured in Access Point mode in my house. Up until recently - I guess the problems started after the last firmware update - the system was working just perfectly. More details about my setup:

0- Hardware version: V3;

1- Firmware: lastest available (1.5.3 Build 20210203 Rel. 68223);

2- Operation mode: Access Point;

3- Fast Roaming: Enabled;

4- Beam Forwarding: Enabled;

5- 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi have the same SSID and password;

6- Guest Netword: disabled;

7- The 3 Decos are wire connected to a Gpbs Ethernet switch.

The problem:

From time to time (once a day, on average), the devices connected stop responding through the 5 GHz network. I get the annoying "incorret password" messages and I have to reboot the access point to make it work properly again.

Any ideas on how fo fix it?

Thank you,

Alexandre

@alexmartins

Hi,

May I know the model number of your ISP router as well as the Ethernet switch?

Since 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz share the same SSID, how did you tell out only the 5ghz had the issue? because only 5ghz connected devices are affected?

May I know what are these 5ghz devices?

If possible, please also log into the web UI and save the system log to me so that we could forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance;

Thank you.

@TP-Link

Good morning! The answers to your questions are listed below:

1- May I know the model number of your ISP router as well as the Ethernet switch?

The ISP router is a HUMAX HGA12R-02. It has 4 gigabit ethernet ports and I use 3 of them to connect the M5s.

2- Since 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz share the same SSID, how did you tell out only the 5ghz had the issue? because only 5ghz connected devices are affected?

I have an application on my PC named WiFiInfoView which shows details about all WiFi SSIDs being broadcasted nearby. Using this application, I have the ability to switch my PC's connections among SSIDs. Using my PC, when I lost the connection to the 5 GHz network (it was still being broadcasted and with an acceptable RSSI of -67), I was able to force it to connect to the 2.4 GHz network.

3- May I know what are these 5ghz devices?

A few examples: Dell notebook, iPhone 8 Plus (latest iOS), iPad Pro (latest iOS), MacBook Pro.

4- If possible, please also log into the web UI and save the system log to me so that we could forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance

The full log is attached.

Thank you and regards,

Alexandre
