I just purchased the access point in order to have WIFI at rooms far from the main router.

The configuration process was easy and the acces point can be recognized with a good signal strength.

 

The problem is with the internet connection: it is not continuous. FOr example, you tube movies start, then hang and back again.

 

Since it is basically working, but with bad performance, I am not sure how to debug the problem.

I assume the wired network is OK because Internet data is moving across. Is this assumption correct?

 

Any idea how to locate the problem source?

Perhaps a firmware update?

Thank you for your valuable feedback. 

1. You could login to the access point by this FAQ and go to Wireless to change the channel and channel width :
For 2.4GHz:   change a different channel and  channel width to 20Mhz

2. Try a shorter Ethernet cable between Router and AP and double- check the wireless performance of AP. 

 

3. If wire a computer directly to main router and watch YouTube movies, does main router's Ethernet connection work fine? 

 

If still the same issue, do you mean the internet buffers a lot when watching the YouTube movie? Does this happen on all the devices like laptops and phones?

Does this issue happen on particular apps,  if there is any Error please share a photo with us, thank you.

The firmware: 3.16.9 Build 200703 Rel.33357n (4555)

Hardware version: WA901N v6 00000000

 

I changed the channel from Auto to 9. I have no idea which channel to chose, so 9 was elected by random. The problem still exists.

This is a Dell laptop, windows 10, working well laptop.

 

Answers to your questions:

- The problem is mostly shown on YouTube videos, where I get a lot of pauses. If the computer is connected by Ethernet cable it works fine. Also, it works fine if it is connected to the routers WiFi. So the problem exists only with the access point's WiFi network

- When I hover the mouse at the windows icon of network (down) it show the network name, internet access, yet same time below it states: "unidentified network No internet access"

- the buffering of YouTube occurs with other devices as well. Sometimes I get the "no internet access" and after 10-15 seconds it comes back, and again. So it is not just YouTube.

- channel width is now 20MHz (not 40)
