Model: TL-WPA4220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0.844-01_422011_140304_002

Hi,

Setup:

TL-WPA4220 v1 (AV500) Powerline extender in the room, connected to a TL-PA4010 v3.00 (EU) (AV600) powerline adaptor. (Versions different, purchased at different times)

Both use the same SSID, which, I suspect, the root cause why my printer connected to the TL-WPA4220 v1 (AV500) Powerline extender in the room does not work in wi-fi mode.

I wanted to define a different SSID to the power extender without success:

TpPLC:

* there are no "internet" (globe) icon. Only "Basic", "Advanced" and "Remove" icons.

* There is no "Wireless" menu item when pressed on "Basic". It goes like: Rename, LED, Reset, Version.

I tried TP-Link Powerline Scan utility to get the IP assigned to the powerline extender. It retrieves the IP number. However, it cannot connect to it! "192.168.0.26 took too long to respond."

Where is the mistake?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mustafa

@MustafaOzturk  Good day ,

Please try tpPLC_Utlity released in July and see if you could see Internet/ Global icon?

192.168.0.26 should be IP address of the wireless power line unit,you could try that IP in a different web browser, clear the browser cache, try incognito Mode and see if the web page could be accessed.

Hi @Solla-topee,

Thank you for your reply.

I am already using the latest TP PLC utility.

Yes, 192.168.0.26 is the IP pf the powerline extender.

- I cannot ping it - "Request timed out"

- Tried them all - cleaned cache, incognito. Kaspersky anti-virus turned off. => ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

- Windows Defender: Allow access fo Tp PLC.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mustafa

@MustafaOzturk  Hello,

> Unplug WPA4220 V1 and plug it back in, check the IP address on Utility, connect your mobile phone to WPA4220 V1 and use its IP address to login again.

> If that does not help, please factory reset WPA4220 V1, with it powered on,  use a pin to press reset hole at least 5 seconds until all LED will turn off and start on again.

Connect laptop to WPA4220 V1 , in default state try to login web page using the IP address and see if that works.

Please update firmware for it if you are able to login WPA4220 v1:

Re:Cannot assign a different SSID to the extender

@Solla-topee Hello,

I unplugged & plugged back: It received a new IP and I was finally able to log in to the web interface with the new IP.

The Internet/Global icon is still not there, nor the Wireless menu item.

I downloaded the latest firmware and used the web interface to update it. (TL-WPA4220(EU)_V1_180509_Beta)

Please note that the mobile TP PLC app does not work - its support for WPA 4220 starts with V2.

After updating the firmware, I lost the internet connection. I unplugged and plugged the extender. Saw that it went back to its factory default SSID and password, (TP_LINK...), so I logged in with those credentials.

Now the Powerline scan utility tells me that it has another, new, IP. I see that in the DHCP screen of my router, too. But I cannot log in to the web interface again. Back to the same issue. :(

I have not tried the factory reset, yet, but I guess the firmware update did that already, right?

Regards,

Mustafa

@Solla-topee

Update:

Tried once more after 20 mins - without doing anything in between I was able to log in!!

I caught a detail - very strange. Look at the DHCP screen in my modem web interface - the last two lines:

Questions:

1) What is HOST NAME exactly? They are identical for Denon and WPA-4220! Then I triy 192.168.0.53, I log into the web interface of Denon.

2) WPA Lease End Time says "*** STATIC IP ADDRESS **, although its IP changes after each restart. Maybe I should fix its IP. How can I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Mustafa
