Hello,

I have a general question:

Does RE300 (AC1200 Mesh Wi-Fi Range Extender) mesh well with Deco M9 Plus?

I have installed a 2-pack Deco M9 Plus at home and would like to extend the signal to the other end, is RE300 suitable in this case?

I intend to mesh the 2x M9 Plus and 1x RE300 up with just one SSID seamless to all the Wifi devices at home.

Thank you.

@Martian

Some TP-Link range extenders are OneMesh compatible, but oneMesh uses different Mesh technology from Deco's Mesh.

So Range extender could connect to Deco's Wi-Fi only as a normal extender but could not join in Deco's Mesh , for details , please check this FAQ:
Several questions about the OneMesh™ and Mesh:

It is recommended to consider another Deco node to extend the Deco Mesh network, all Decos are compatible. You could navigate  Deco section here or start a new thread for more questions on Deco products.Here are some related FAQs that may help:

Okay thanks. Two specific questions (please answer YES or NO):

1) Can a Deco M3W (https://www.ebay.com/itm/TP-Link-AC1200-Whole-Home-Mesh-Wi-Fi-Add-On-Unit-Deco-M3W-DecoM3W-802-11-EU-/323897462052) join a Deco M9 Plus mesh system utilising the same SSID (as mesh)?

2) Can a range extender RE300 AC1200 Mesh Wi-Fi Range Extender join a Deco M9 Plus mesh system utilising the same SSID (as mesh)? Your this TP-LINK product page https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/all-network-expansion/ refers seems to refer one mesh as mesh so it is very confusing for people to select a compatible deco mesh or one mesh products.

@Martian

1) Yes, Deco M3W could join your Deco M9 mesh network utilising the same SSID (as mesh) , this is a Deco plug without Ethernet port.

2) No. RE could connect to Deco M9 utilising the same SSID (but not as mesh, as range extender use TP-LINK OneMesh, Deco uses Deco mesh, they are not compatible)

Hope this help clear things up~

@Solla-topee

Thank you.

I don't seem to be able to find any local seller of DECO M3W.

I find all DECO M3W sellers are based in UK or US. Why?

Is it that DECO M3W did not take off well in Australia?

If I purchase a DECO M3W from UK or US will it work well with the M9 Plus in Australia except for the power plug that is different from Australia - Type I?

Thank you.

@Martian sorry for the delayed response.

I did not see single model DecoM3W on AU website, it used to sold together with Deco E3 as a pack.

I recommend purchasing a  tp-link unit in your own country considering the device warranty. (TP-Link does not have global warranty https://www.tp-link.com/support/replacement-warranty/) If single Deco M3W is not available in the shops below, it is suggested to look for other available Deco Models. Thank you for your understanding.
