Model: TL-WA850RE  
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: tried to update to latest but not sure if it did.

Can someone please help. I have called Telstra, had a technician out and tried to contact TPlink but no one on the live chat and no one answers the phone.

 

I had a new telstra modem installed - model DJA0231 and now my TP link extender can't find the SSID. I manually enter it but then it says not connected to router/no internet. 

 

I have checked all the settings as per the various threads.

 

I have reset the extender and tried over and over. 

 

My modem is upstairs where phone point is and everything else we run is downstairs so need the extender for decent internet and also for my printer to work (as it was connected go extender via ethernet as doesn't have a wifi card).

 

Any suggestions??

We have a FAQ here that should help, you could try to change channel settings of router: 

What should I do if the range extender cannot find my host network?

 

Please also locate RE besides modem when set up RE. 

 

If still the same, can I have a photo of showing RE failed to see host WiFi, and a photo of your Modem Wireless settings? 

May I know did you set Re using Tether APP or web, could RE detect the nearby SSIDs besides the Telstra modem's SSID

Thank you for this. I have tried it all but no luck. All my other devices are connected to the Telstra modem fine and my neighbours networks show when I scan on the extender but mine doesn't. I tried those different channels with no luck too. 

 

I tried setting up in both the app on my phone and via interface on my computer. And right next to the modem as well as a few metres away and downstairs. 

Any additional assistance greatly appreciated!

Sorry for the late reply, I will create a support email and escalate case to look into that further 

 

- Confirm TL-WA850RE V4 is on the latest firmware , can I know what is the firmware/ Build number  of your RE

- Change a different SSID for router or Create a Guest WiFi (2.4Ghz) on modem and see if TL-WA850RE could see it

- You could try WiFI channel 1,6,11,not Auto ; try to adjust  Channel width like fixed on 20Mhz, or 40Mhz, and see if that helps

Thank you - I tried a netgear extender too and it connected but get dropping out so I have booked a telstra technician to come on Thursday and see if it's the mode.

Hello @Eckles 

Thank you, I notice our engineer suggests setting up a different SSID on router and fix the Wi-Fi channel 1 for a try on support email.

Feel free to let us know how it goes after Teltra support checked the modem, thank you.
