Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I've recently purchased and installed a 3-unit Deco M5 mesh as the current Fritz!box as supplied by our internet provider doesn't cover the whole house.

Since installing, my work laptop (behind a work-provided VPN) thinks it's based in Guangzhou, China.  If I disconnect the mesh, the issue resolves.

Similarly, using the Google search widget on my phone results in a "too many requests detected" issue from Google and refuses to load any results. This doesn't prevent search suggestions from loading while typing.

If I turn off WiFi and use the network connection, all works perfectly again.

I can't replicate the issue on my android tablet... (Older android version)

Any suggestions as to what could cause the issue?

  @Angry_muppet

I can give you suggestion how to fix the issue.

Assuming you still have Fritz!box and it runs as a router/gateway (configuration it should have come with), what you need to do is configure Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode. See How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

  @Angry_muppet

Changing to access point mode would be a nice idea.

And as for the wrong location issue on the Google map, I saw there is a similar post:https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/106232

And there is also a story that explained what happened and what we could do to get rid of this issue.

Why my devices get the wrong location when connected to Wi-Fi

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
