No Connection Preference
No Connection Preference
Hello,
how it can be there is no "connection preference" option on XE75?!
Many home devices connect to the farthest DECO, even if the closer one has a stronger signal, or start hopping between DECOs, even with mesh option disabled.
This is absolute nonsense!
Please update with at least this NECESSARY feature.
Do you have any plan to roll out such a firmware quickly?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, yes, there is already a plan for this feature.
And the latest released firmware for Deco X50 and Deco X55 starts supporting this feature and it won't be too long for Deco XE75.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@David-TP Hi!
It is April now and I desperately _require_ this feature, since my VR headset connects to my nearest Deco X75 - not to the one the streaming PC is attached to...
Unfortunately this makes wireless streaming completely unusable.
Is there at least a beta firmware with that feature available?

I agree with you that a connection preference should be included with the XE75 (AKA AXE5400 and sold at Costco as AXE5300). I had fairly good luck with devices connecting to the best/closest Deco until TP-Link issued a firmware update 1.1.10 Build V1.6 20230301. Update V1.6_1.1.11 Build 20230302 did not fix this problem.
For TP-Link - Can a connection preference be added to the next firmware update for the XE75/AXE5400 and AXE5300 (which appears to use the same firmware as the X75). If this will take longer, do you recommend that I go back to the older firmware for better connection?
Thanks TP-Link and @Magny - great question and recommendation

Thank you! As to now, still no connection preference, whereas this feature is on "old" Deco M4 too! This is so disappointing.
Please Tp-link, wake up and give us this feature that should have been there since day one.

Hello, This would be a great feature for the XE75 Pro and a shame this has not been added.
I have a few devices that are important but have cheap wifi cards which do not like mesh ( disabling the mesh option for the device in the app does nothing as the device doesnt support it ) . so they end up connecting to weaker Decos ( work perfectly when connected to closer ones ) . Even have modern devices that pick the wrong deco for their location.
Connection preference really should be a day one feature, Please push this along please.

@Magny That feature is only on M4 (V4), which is not "old" (released last year)
Other hardware versions of M4 still don't have that feature.

It states that the currently supported models as of 4/27 are: Deco M4 v4, Deco M5, Deco X55v1, Deco X50v1, X50-PoE, XE75 v1, XE5300 V1, and All Deco BE Models. Despite the information at the link provide above, the firmware update for the XE5300 to allow manual setting of the band/node is not on the TP-Link site. A senior TP-Link engineer told me that the XE75 and XE5300 are the same, but sold by different vendors, i.e., XE5300 Costco and XE75 other retailers. Thus, the firmware will be the same, but the name of the firmware will be different. The versions of firmware for XE5300 and XE75 have the same number and build for each variation and were released on the same day, except for V1.6_1.2.1 Build 20230331. V1.6_1.2.1 Build 20230331 was released for XE75 on April 28, but not for XE5300. This seemed like an oversight because all of the other firmwares for XE75 and XE5300 were released on the same day and have the same numbers and builds. I didn't see any information about the XE75 Pro, but thought that the Pro had the multigig LAN port but the Wifi was the same. If true, then maybe a little nudge will get them to release it since the firmware for XE75 is currently on the download site.
V1.6_1.2.1 Build 20230331 has the feature to allow manual selection of band or node. This feature will not work unless all of my nodes have the firmware updates. I have updated my XE75, but cannot do so for my XE5300 because it is not online yet. Since these have identical hardware, I wonder why the one for XE5300 is not online despite the link provided above stating that it is available.
I have asked TP-Link if they can check to see when it will be posted or provide a link to the firmware for XE5300 that will allow for manually setting the band and nodes, but have not heard back.

Thank you for the in-depth reply to this, There may be some overlap with the firmware working on different models. So would be nice to get come clarification.
As i have the XE75 Pro i need to be sure what works on this specific model and avoid and bricking risks. Also firmware is split between model versions ie v1.0 , v2.0 which makes things little bit more interesting.
Just feels like they have limited resources in regards to firmware update teams so could be why they seem to take so long.
