Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Almost 3 and a half years ago as shown in a screenshot that I attached in files someone from your consumer support replied that ability to separate Wi-Fi bands. Is it even done? Will upgrading the firmware add this functionality? Or am I forced to refund this product that isn't able to perform such a basic functionality?

  @Dawid99

Looking at the link you posted, the response from TP Link was that they would not separate the bands into two SSIDS, doing so would cause issues with the functioning of the Mesh.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your concern about this case.

Currently, we did not have the plan to add separate SSID for 2.4ghz and 5ghz, only separate on/off switch for the two bands.

Since the reason we bought Deco is mainly for its mesh feature, if you use two SSIDs on the Deco, it would break the mesh.

And there would be a workaround for your reference:

1. set up main network with 5ghz only for one SSID;

2. then create a guest network with 2.4ghz only for another SSID;

Thanks a lot for your understanding and support.
