Deco X50-5G_V1

Phenomenon Description:

1. Deco X50-5G randomly turned red then the internet stopped. Users might need to restart/reset to temporarily restore the internet connection.

2. Deco X50-5G remained solid white but all devices randomly lost internet connection.

* Some carriers use 5G NSA(It refers to an option of 5G NR deployment that depends on the control plane of an existing 4G LTE network for control functions). So sometimes the Deco LED is white when the Band is one of the 4G bands(such as B1/B3) but the network type is 5G.

Suggestions:

There is similar feedback from various brands of 5G routers on the internet. The causes vary among different SIM carriers, which contributes to the complexity of finding a universal solution. Our engineers are actively exploring different approaches and collaborating with SIM carriers to address this issue.

The following suggestions are consolidated from previous feedback, aimed at enhancing 5G stability.

1. Please make sure the Deco X50-5G is up-to-date.
2. Confirm the 5G SIM card is PIN Free.

*In some cases, once restarting the 5G router, the SIM Card status turns to "PIN Locked". If possible, please contact the SIM carrier to unlock the SIM card permanently.
3. Switch the Carrier from "Auto" to the specific ISP Profile.
For example, on the Deco APP, please Switch the Carrier from "Auto" to "O2".
If there is no preset ISP profile, please try to create your own APN Profile and manually add the APN details of the SIM carrier.

4. Set a daily reboot schedule.

5. If possible, Add external 5G antennas on the 5G router.>>How to install 5G external antennas on Deco

If the 5G router still frequently drops out, you could contact Technical support with the following details to get further assistance:

  • Your location and The SIM carrier.
  • Install the 1.1.7 debug firmware and save the modem log-How to capture the modem log on Deco X50-5G
  • The screenshots of the internet settings/WAN IP addresses before and after the 5G outage.
  • A screenshot of the Cellular details after clicking "Additional information"

@David-TP I have the exact same problem with the BE65-5G router – it keeps turning red and losing the network. The only fix is to set the BE65-5G to "4G only." External antennas are connected, and the signal is excellent.I have the exact same problem with the BE65-5G router – it keeps turning red and losing the network. I'm afraid yesblush. If you can constantly reproduce this issue, it would be highly appreciated if you could help me capture the modem log and send it to support.forum@tp-link.com.

I have experienced this problem for a couple of weeks now. I'm running the latest firmware version that is installable through the app.

Just letting you know the obvious, there are probably thousands of people having this issue but they cant be arsed to look into it.

The downtime is usually 1-5 minutes. We're using X50-5G at a company with 10 users. People are frustrated but we just wait until it works.

Some use their mobile network during downtime. It happens around 10-30 times per day.

I have no idea if it's related but i can see the CPU going to 100% in the small graph, but you can't tell any time frames from that.

I'm a web developer, but we're using mac here so i cant install the logging firmware.

Is there any confirmed workaround? Using 4G only?

  @Glu

Hi, May I know the SIM carrier?

Have you tested with another SIM card?

If the issue starts with 1.2.x, we can try to revert to the official 1.1.5/1.1.7 first:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/727392?replyId=1474364

And if you happen to have an old 5G modem, Deco X50-5G can be set as a wireless router.

Or if there is an extra Deco unit, we can also set Deco X50-5G into Bridge mode and use the extra Deco to create a new network and work as the DHCP server.

Using the 4G only is also worth a try and it helps us to narrow down the problem.

Thank you very much and best regards.
