Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.5 build 20231229 rel. 36756

I have the Deco P9 (US, version 1) set up as follows:

- Main unit in the basement

- Second unit on the ground floor, connected by LAN wire to the main unit

- Third unit on the second floor, with no LAN connection available

- Router mode

For quite some time, everything was working as intended, with the third unit showing a poweline backhaul connection to the main unit with no issues. Two months ago, I upgraded to firmware 1.1.5. Since then, unit 3 has briefly showed a powerline connection after some system reboots but quickly switches to Wifi mode (with the app showing a medium quality connection) and stays there. Internet use through unit 3 now appears to be more sluggish than before. I have done no other change to my setup other than the firmware upgrade.

Should'nt the powerline connection normally provide better performance than a medium strength wifi link? That was my impression and reason for buying the P9 in the first place. If so, why is the powerline no longer used? Is this a known issue with 1.1.5?  Can I rollback to 1.1.3?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Yes, you could rollback to 1.1.3 via web UI.

It is also suggested to install the beta firmware here to see whether it helped.

Improve Powerline Backhaul on Deco P9

By the way, after the firmware upgrade, how about the second Deco P9? Did it still work properly over Powerline Backhaul?

Have you tried to swap the two satellite P9 units to see whether the unstable Powerline Backhaul always follows the third Deco P9?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hello,

Thank your for your suggestions. It took me a while to try things out because I didn't want to inconvene other wifi users in the house.

I tried swapping the units as you suggested but that did not solve the problem. So I did a rollback to 1.1.3 and am now back to the desired setup (see attached clip), with the Deco unit on the second floor back to making use of the powerline backhaul, instead of a weak wifi link to the basement (main) unit as was the case since upgrading to 1.1.5. Given that, I didn't try the beta.

Best regards.
